I received a Casino Rate on Princess. I don't know how I received it, myself, one sister (both play the slots) maybe $20-40/night or less, both received the rate and another sister who does not play at all did not receive the email. We both put our cruise card in the sloth machine and not used cash, maybe that is how they tracked us.

I received an email from Princess, certain cruises - Alaska, Caribbean, Europe received different % off- 15% 20%,35%. The rate is attached to my past passenger number.

I was told each cruise has only so many cabins for each special.

If you don't mind may I ask you for some help with Ocean Player's Club

We are 3 star (will be 4 star HAL Mariner's after our cruise this November.

We are Platinum on Princess

Year's ago I had signed my DH up with Ocean Player's website - never received anything from them.

DH plays in the casino every day while we are cruising - he plays several hundred dollar's per day. If loosing to much he "MIGHT" skip a day. More often than not though the call of the BlackJack Tables just can't be resisted even for a day.

The casino host takes DH's card for rating purposes we thought. However, he never get's anything - once in a great while maybe a diet Coke comped as he doesn't drink alcohol while playing cards. He even asked the casino host last year after playing if we could maybe get a dinner in Pinnacle Grill or something. He was told they don't do that.

DH is a quiet guy - ALWAYS tips the dealer's when he's winning. Yet we never get anything. He has twice won the BlackJack tournament's that he plays in as well.

I had read on CC here about the promo's and comp's etc. So I requested a win loss statement last week from the OCP website. It arrived today - it show's nothing for our cruise last fall on the Eurodam. Yet he played everyday and handed his room card (as we have no Club 21 card or OCP card) to the casino host. He was actually asked by one of the host's in the beginning if he wanted them to rate him and he said YES. Yet still no rating.

We just can't figure out how to become a part of this process. On the win loss statement it has a CMAS Player ID #. Now I am not sure IF that is anything or not?

We have tried to call OCP 866 and 888 number - you can't get through to anyone and messages aren't returned. Maybe they think well he isn't rated why take the time???

Mind you he certainly is NOT a "whale" but he plays several hundred when he plays BlackJack daily when we cruise. Is this only for slot player's maybe?

Any idea's on what we are doing wrong???

We do book directly online with HAL and then turn our cruise bookings over to our T.A.

We do have a HAL cruise consultant but have never called them. Is this maybe the problem?

Thank YOU for any and all suggestion's.

It's difficult for the pit supervisors to keep track of the play sometime. If there is heavier action at another table they are monitoring they will spend more time watching that table.

This surprises me with the Eurodam though as they are supposed to have a computerized tracking system for the table players. Your husband should make sure that every time he buys in to make the pit supervisor aware of his buy in. Plus at the end of the day when he leaves the tables he should ask how much he bought in for during the day. If the pit supervisor can answer then he knows his play has in fact been tracked.

It is much easier to track the slot play as the room card is used.

Up until a few years ago all of these offers came from Club 21 in Miami. Now they come directly from HAL. I think HAL has much more knowledge of the players overall spending habits than Miami ever did. HAL knows how much these guests spend on excursions, onboard shops, alcohol and so forth per cruise. This may assist them in offering a discount to some smaller money players as they see the overall spend potential.

I am not sure a PCC can be of help. This process must begin on the ship in the casino.

Hugger - My gambling profile and experience matches yours exactly. At the suggestion of a HAL PCC, I called a Miami number (305-406-5710); nobody answers and nobody returns calls.

The telephone menu on this number has an option to book a cruise. I wonder if you book through the casino you might get some perk like is often the case at casino hotels.

Many of the respondents who say they get perks indicate they are primarily slot players and, because their play is computerized, it is easy for the casino to rate them. My guess is that they get perks because casinos love slot players - there is surely no gamble for the casino who, aboard ships, probably are taking at least 10% off the top irrespective the occasional big jackpot winner.

We have about 45 cruises completed - my DH has played BlackJack on every cruise ship he's ever been on - not to much in done with the slot's.

DH put's a lot of time in at the tables though. We are going to try Laminator's suggestion on the Eurodam this fall and see IF that may work.

Maybe he will even be recognized on the Eurodam if some of the same casino host's are still onboard since we last cruised on her Nov 2014. And, we do B2B cruises both year's too. So he is in there A LOT! And, plays in the tournament's this past year they did give him an additional invite to the tournament each week. I had forgotten that until just now. He won one of them last year on the second week.

Here's to hoping they might recognize him and pay more attention. Like I said he's a very quiet guy. You would think that with him being there so much as well as tipping every time he's winning that alone would get some attention. So many player's fail to take care of the dealer's in that way it seem's.

Please let us know here if you ever figure it out. We will post our experience when we get back as well.

I had an email conversation with HAL's Club 21 rep two days ago. He said what other cruisers have mentioned, the key to getting "rated" is making sure to hand the Pit Boss your Cabin card every time you sit down to play a table game, or enter it every time you play the slots. I make it a point to introduce myself to them day one, and I take time to talk with them when things are a little quiet. That little bit of familiarity makes them notice when you arrive and I think they naturally tend to pay more attention to your play.

My friend and I have received special deals from the Casinos....usually $100 plus port taxes with $100 in OBC...then can upgrade cabin...($50 outside, $150 for balcony. These deals go fast so if you get one book ASAP. We got one fro Thanksgiving and so did some friends of ours, they waited and missed out .

My friend gambles far more money than I do but I have received these specials...so not sure what their criteria is

Just a thought.........

I wonder if these casino deals that some seem to receive while others do not are based (at least in part) by a person's play at land based casinos??

I know that Caesars has a tie in with NCL and frequently offers free (or greatly reduced priced) cruises to their players. Could HAL be doing the same thing?

Club 21 handles that type of marketing for HAL. These offers come from directly from HAL.

My first cruise on HAL was thru an offer from a land based casino several years ago. Since that cruise I have been on several cruises thru Club 21. I am not going to bother to go back and count but I know it is over 20 if not closer to 25. It may be more than that as I am a 4 star mariner.

The biggest difference today is that the offers I receive now come directly from HAL instead of Club 21. This has occurred over the last 2 years.

No matter how the offers come I highly recommend you take advantage of them as these casino event cruises are a lot of fun.

And I know that "M Life"(MGM) has an arrangement with RCL but I don't believe HAL does.

With respect to casino offers, I'm really not looking for anything. My wife and I are craps players and do it for the enjoyment knowing we are probably going to come out on the losing end. But it would be nice if the casino sometimes would show some appreciation for your playing like an occasional drink or a hat or something.

My DH goes on a cruise so he can play BlackJack to a large extent that is the attraction/vacation for him. He most likely wouldn't go IF a casino with tables wasn't available. Me I just want to be at sea - enjoying the good life.

For my DH thought that is what he enjoys and looks forward to the most on a cruise.

Would just be nice to have some appreciation for the money and time spent to be acknowledged.

And, who would ever pass on some extra perks - we could maybe cruise more often then :D

About a month ago someone on CC mentioned having their PCC remove a "marketing hold" from their HAL account. From what I understand, if you're already booking cruises, or possibly if you've entered a HAL sweepstakes or something similar and clicked "no" to a "do want us to contact you or send info" type icon, HAL puts a "marketing hold" on your account. My suspicion is if you're already booking future trips, they don't see the need to send out mailings.

Whatever the reason for it, when I had my PCC check, our account had the marketing hold on it. He had it removed, and within 2 weeks I had a casino promo on my account and received a sale mailing from HAL.

The casino promo requires you give up Explore 4, but on the two 2017 14-day cruises we booked, the suite fare savings was far and away more than the full retail value of Explore 4, and everything we spend at the bar will count towards the Mariner Society on board spending cruise-day bonus. I should point out that the promo is applied to the fare at the time it's applied. When I checked our upcoming Jan, 2016 cruise, due to the Neptunes being almost sold out, the fare had gone up 50% since we booked so the casino promo wasn't helpful.

and promptly forgot about it. THANK YOU for reminding me of it - I will call on Tuesday to see if our account has a hold of that type on it. We do get some brochures from HAL. Not nearly as many as we get from Princess though - I kind of remember opting out of something recently too.

Enjoy your holiday weekend

THANKS AGAIN

  • 1 month later...

we did have a block on our account being we were booked on a cruise.

The gal told me she would put a standing order NOT to block any of our promo's etc

However, said it's a good idea to call in and make sure it's holding in the computer system. From what she said the computer may still take it out.

THANKS for the advise

  • 2 weeks later...
Apparently i got this offer in the mail a week or 2 ago and didn't bother to open it since I figured the offers couldn't be that good since i'm a cheap gambler.

I've been on two 7 day HAL cruises in the last 10 years - the last was 18

The only thing i can think of is that they got me confused with someone else at the craps table.

I finally opened the letter yesterday. The offers are the best i've seen from HAL. If i can find my scanner, i'll post them.

The previous offer expired Sept. 10... just got an email from Holland America - with some great deals

select cruises (very specific as to dates)- eastern or western carib. - 7 days-- 199 interior -or add 99 to get a verandah (298total).... or add 350 for Neptune Suite (549total)-

These are unbelievable deals -- i just might jump on one of these... and just might get the Neptune suite, since i've never thought i could afford it

Just received an offer. The promo says for 1st and 2nd guest. Does anyone know if one can add a third person in the room?

Also is this offer limited to only one cabin or can another cabin also be booked on this promo?

Thanks for any help.

Any casino offer I've received from a cruise line (Carnival, Celebrity, NCL, Royal Caribbean) has always been just for the cabin I'm in. I'm sure you can pay regular 3rd/4th person rates and add someone. Having said that, I'm pretty sure if you're a player with a $100,000+ line of credit (and utilize a good portion of it regularly) that you could negotiate additional cabins. In all of our sailings though, I can say I've only seen a handful of players who'd fall into that category!

I've had luck with Celebrity and Royal Caribbean in terms of shifting cash back (loss rebate) from one line to the other, but don't see Carnival corporation line extending offers to other lines which are under the same (Carnival) umbrella. Even w/regard to past guest status, Celebrity and Royal offer reciprocity: Having achieved Elite status with Celebrity automatically made me Diamond when we then sailed on Royal Caribbean... SMART !

Carnival could learn a thing or two about encouraging trips within their own companies ships - otherwise when guests "try the waters" elsewhere, there's nothing to keep those $'s in house!

Back to the casino - I'm looking forward to seeing how HAL will "reward" my play. After my first cruise with Celebrity (a 4 nighter) I was offered a free balcony on a 10-night holiday sailing - which I took them up on. Sadly, the gamble worked out well for them! I've enjoyed a few free sailings on Carnival, and heavily discounted ($3-5,000 off) suites on NCL and Royal Caribbean. All of those things though seem to come and go - sometimes they're offering nothing (for years!) then out of nowhere they change their tune and extend a carrot!

invasive - may I ask at what level you would say that a BlackJack player must play per hour in a cruise ship casino to get those types of offer's. My Dh plays a few hundred dollars a day when we cruise. Yet we have yet to recieve offer's even though the pit boss has asked him if he wanted to be rated. Of course, his answer has always been Yes Please.

Just looking for advise - no intention of being rude.

Thanks

Carnival may slowly be moving in the direction of cross branded promotions. We haven't been on HAL in about 5 years, but have participated in a few Princess casino offers in last couple years. Three months ago we received a free 7 day cruise offer from HAL...

Not rude at all - how does one know these things without asking !

I play exclusively at tables where the minimum is between $25 and $100 per hand - often playing two hands at once. Thus I'm probably "investing" (oftentimes "donating" is a better word) somewhere in the range of $100 (base bet) to $200+ per deal. When things are going well, it's sweet. When things aren't, well... it's not sweet !

for sharing your experience. My DH is in the same range then - he will start out with a base bet then increase it depending on how the cards are coming out. Very often he will split - last cruise out he was playing 4 hands on a split and it just happened to be when he had a very large bet out. Thankfully he won 2 lost one and broke even on the 4th. He will talk about that round for years to come ;) He doesn't play two hands often but does on occasion. If there is room at the table. He loves it when it's just he and the dealer as can happen late night. However, ALWAYS plays basic BlackJack rules and splits and doubles down ALWAYS when appropriate. He is the risk taker in the family - I don't have the courage to do what he does LOL. He always tips the dealer's when he wins. And, doesn't drink while playing. Maybe he's just to quiet.
