Last minute royal Caribbean questions!

Recommended Posts

I'm about to board the FOS tomorrow (excited!)

But I still have a few questions before boarding:

MAIN question:

Today when I logged onto royal carribeans website my held cruise disappeared along with the number I would click to use the cruise planner etc.. I board tomorrow morning at 11. Is this typical? I even entered my reservation number, cruise date, surname to search for my held cruise and nothing came up. Is this because it's so close to the sail date? Or should I be freaking out?

1. We are bringing two bottles of wine on board per the guidelines. Do we bring them on board with our carry-on? Should we pack them in our checked luggage? Or do we bring them in hand and let them know we brought wine?

2. Premium or ultimate?

Is there a huge advantage to the ultimate pkg? Besides teas and premium coffees? Not a big coffee drink drinker, prefer black coffee but will probably just start out with a Bloody Mary and drink available (free coffee.)

Is there a nice tea and specialty coffee menu I should know about? And as far as the Starbucks coffee, is it just the coffee beans that are Starbucks or is there a full-fledged Starbucks on ship? A lot of hotels advertise Starbucks coffee but it's usually just the coffee and maybe a cappuccino stand in the lobby. If I can go down and order unlimited cinnamon roll frappucinos and strawberry lemonades I'm game, but if they only carry the Starbucks coffee and nothing else then idk. Are there other specialty coffee drinks?

3. Are bars open 24/7? I heard they were.

4. As far as drinking, can I carry a drink around with me? Back to my room? Or do drinks stay where you ordered them? I'd like a Bloody Mary or mimosa in the AM can I bring it back to my room? Would like to have a morning drink on my balcony. Probably a no, but can u order drinks delivered to your room?

5. Can you order alcoholic drinks when dining in the windjammer? Or can I bring a drink?

6. Can u go get some salad or sushi from the windjammer and then head to the MDR for your meal?

7. Can you order a whole pizza from sorrentos?

8. Is the room service menu final? Can you request other things? If so, what?

9. Out of curiosity, I'm boarding FOS tomorrow after all this Erika nonsense. Do you think there would be a lot of cancellations due to this?

10. I would really like o spend a port day on ship. Which port would you skip? Labadee Falmouth grand cayman or Cozumel?

Let me try:

1. Don't know

2. ultimate gets you sparkling water and specialty coffee, as well as fresh squeezed OJ. You have to decide yourself from there.

3. No

4. Carry around as you please, except off the ship.

5. You can order and you can bring one in you made of bought elsewhere

6.yes - you can eat 9 meals a day if you want

7. Yes, whole pizzas can be ordered, but generally you will have to wait

8. Never tried that, never will

9. No, but you may not make Coco Cay or Labadee (depending on what itinerary they are on this week)

10. Myself I would skip Falmouth

And yes, the cruise will disappear a couple days before you leave. That is why you do your checkin on line about a week before, or earlier

Enjoy your cruise. You can carry drinks anywhere on the ship.

You can order a drink in the Windjammer - have usually seen beer/wine. Might be easier to carry in what you want.

You can eat a snack/salad in the Windjammer and still go to dinner.

Bars are open at different times. Don't think it is quite 24/7. Will be listed in the cruise compass daily.

Pack your carry on wine in your carry on bag. If you pack with your regular bags you may be called to the "naughty " room to identify to prove you are not trying to smuggle liquor.

Personally I would stay on the ship in Falmouth, but it's subjective; depends what you like to do and if you plan to do any excursions.

I think you have answers to just about everything, but to reiterate:

Highly recommend hand carrying the wine onboard. Checking it can delay delivery of your bags, and you know the wine's been at temperature, etc., if you carry it.

You can actually have a Bloody Mary and I believe a Mimosa delivered with room service, but I think you'd be paying; I don't know that room service is included in the drink packages (we haven't had a need to try a package yet).

And, the disappearing reservation thing is one of the most disconcerting quirks of the infamous RCCL IT system. Everyone panics the first time it happens!

Oh, and it's been a few years so the area may finally have been developed, but Falmouth would be my least favorite port call on that itinerary.

Normal for cruise to come off website - you can't do anything to your reservation online at that point anyways.

Carry on your wine. Easiest and quickest.

The Ultimate package includes specialty coffees/teas, sparkling bottled water and fresh squeezed OJ. Otherwise, packages are the same.

There is no full fledged Starbucks onboard FOS. The cafe might be using Starbucks beans, or it may be Seattle's Best, or it might be another bean. They do make froo froo drinks, but nowhere near as extensive as a full Starbucks. If you would drink two froo froo coffees or a fresh squeezed juice and specialty coffee or some combo like that, maybe the Ultimate would make sense. You can stick to the premium for a fay or two, then decide to upgrade if you like.

The full bar menu is available in Windjammer.

Yes, you can walk around carrying beverages, take then to your room, take them into the shows and lounges, etc.

Bar hours vary by bar and times will be posted in your Compass (this is the family newsletter with what's happening around the ship). There is generally somewhere to get a drink just about 24/7.

You can get personal pizzas at Sorrentos. Not the large full size ones, these are small personal size and made to order

You can go to the buffet and eat, then go to MDR and eat then go to another venue and eat and so on...it's unlimited. You are not limited to eating in only one venue for one meal.

Room service is fairly fixed to the menu provided. You can certainly request something, but don't be surprised if they say no.

Highly doubt there will be many cancellations from TS Erika.

We stay on the ship in Labadee (not impressed at all), and either beach it or Margaritaville it in Falmouth. Love Cozumel, we always get off the ship there.

Enjoy your sailing!

This is SOP. (standard operating procedure). Your cruise will always "disappear" from the website just before your cruise. No need for any concern.

1. We are bringing two bottles of wine on board per the guidelines. Do we bring them on board with our carry-on? Should we pack them in our checked luggage? Or do we bring them in hand and let them know we brought wine?

Carry them with you on board. No need to mention it; if they care to inspect it, they will ask you to remove the bottles from your bag.

If I can go down and order unlimited cinnamon roll frappucinos and strawberry lemonades I'm game, but if they only carry the Starbucks coffee and nothing else then idk. Absolutely no "real" Starbucks, so no Starbucks "extras" like strawberry lemonades. If you don't care about twice daily "special" coffees or fresh-squeezed orange juice, just get the Premium package.

3. Are bars open 24/7? I heard they were.

Not 24/7, but there are always one or two bars open quite early ( 7 a.m.-ish) and the casino bar is open as late as the casino. (can be as late as 4 a.m.)

I assume that you are still talking about the beverage packages. Room service is never included in a beverage package, nor are the items in your cabin's mini-fridge. Carry anything you want anywhere you want on board.

5. Can you order alcoholic drinks when dining in the windjammer? Or can I bring a drink?

There is a bar in the Windjammer! Isn't that a nice thing? ;)

6. Can u go get some salad or sushi from the windjammer and then head to the MDR for your meal?

You may eat an entire meal in the Windjammer and then walk directly into Chops or Giovanni's Table and eat an entire meal and then walk downstairs to the main dining room and eat an entire meal, if you wish.

7. Can you order a whole pizza from sorrentos?

Theoretically, yes, but you may have to wait for it. If there is an entire pie sitting there, but a long line of people, they probably won't let you take it, but will tell you that they will make you one soon.

8. Is the room service menu final? Can you request other things? If so, what?

Pretty much fixed. Some people have had success writing in extra hot items on the breakfast order, but the ship's willingness to do this seems to be declining.

Remember, Café Promenade is open almost 24/7. You can get some items there that are not on the Room Service menu.

9. Out of curiosity, I'm boarding FOS tomorrow after all this Erika nonsense. Do you think there would be a lot of cancellations due to this?

1. It's not nonsense. 2. No.

10. I would really like o spend a port day on ship. Which port would you skip? Labadee Falmouth grand cayman or Cozumel?

Falmouth.
