Has anyone used the vacation guarentee for a rude neighbor?

You could always move to an ocean view room or inside if you are worried about smoke on a balcony. Our last cruise there were three separate incidents where I smelled smoke. I don't particularly like rule breakers, but I'm not one to run to GS to complain. I'd say just go inside for 5 minutes and the problem will be put out.

I want to cruise, I want to go to places I have never been before, I got the best room over a year ago that I could. Once I am off the boat, if someone is smoking I can just pass them (in a power chair) by and I should be fine. I did spend a lot of money for a 9 day cruise, I understand how smokers have rights as well. I was a smoker for many years. I would never want to infringe on the rights of smokers as I wish they would not infringe on my rights to not have to be locked up in my cabin because of rude smokers. I will try and make sure I keep some heavy antibiotics handy. Thank you for all the advice and encouragement.

I write this at the risk of being flamed but have you thought of another cruise line? I'm not saying that smoking is more abundant on Carnival but it sounds like there isn't as good of method of control on Carnival. I've mostly cruised Princess and I can't remember a time I smelled smoke on the balcony. Go on your cruise and enjoy yourself. I wish you well but if it isn't for you consider another line.

It's happened to me, and I can assure you, Carnival, and it's employees have a policy of not helping out, or enforcing their rules. One, of several reasons why I will not step foot on a Carnival ship again! However, I enjoy sharing my experiences, and encourage you if you can, to find a cruise line that cares.

You know what? I have cruised with Royal Caribbean cruise line 3 times but it's not my favorite cruise line so you will almost never find me posting on Royal Caribbean cruise critic threads because I just don't go there. I'm really curious why a person would want to spend time at the Carnival cruise critic threads if they have absolutely no desire to cruise with carnival? The only time I have found myself posting at such a thread is when I was just looking at the most recent postings section. Is that what happened to you? Or do you simply have such malevolence towards Carnival that you feel you must seek out their customers and talk them into going to other cruise lines?

Loud and obnoxious, smoking, slamming balconies doors, fighting and or any other thing.

Just curious. I can not tolerate smoke, and if they are smoking near me, I will get sick plain and simple and will end up in the hospital. This is my first cruise and did not even think about inconsiderate people who break rules. I booked the cruise knowing there was no smoking on the balcony. So has anyone used it for those reasons? And how was the out come?

Quite frankly if you're that allergic to cigarette smoke I'm surprised you're not in the hospital right now since there's almost no store in the world that does not have some employees standing out front smoking. I am also allergic to cigarette smoke but I bring an inhaler and an EpiPen everywhere I go. When it comes to cigarette smoke there is no way to be absolutely guaranteed you will be able avoid it. Also if you truly have a life-threatening allergy to tobacco you might want to see an allergist to consider further medical therapy. I do enjoy a gambling though so I always bring some allergy pills with me and use my inhaler so that I can go into the Casino.

hate carnival... yet read through it's forums... interesting..

I used to smoke, and had balconies specifically for that reason, but I continue with a balcony, because it's nice to have. perhaps I never noticed it before, but I have rarely smelled others smoking on the balcony. I would caution you about where the cabin is. With the new smoking policies, there's a lovely plume coming from the smoking sections below rooms often. Go for a room near the front of the ship, there's nothing around there where smoke can get to you from or a cove balcony, below the smoking decks

There are VERY FEW places to smoke on any ship. Smokers end up smoking more because when they find a place it's ok, they have one or two or linger. Don't worry about it, just have a good time.

Perfume and cologne:mad: on the other hand....

Sweaty body odor and clothes are just as bad.

I guess I have been blessed to only have had great smoking and non-smoking neighbors since this thread has more posts about smoking....

Only 1 time did I have to listen to a child screaming for 45 minutes str8 on a balcony 3 rooms down as punishment from parents, he was put out on the balcony, which I did hear them say....I never heard so many I HATE YOUs and screams in my life.....

I didn't call GS, however, after a 1/2 hour of listening to them fight through the door, I just went to enjoy the many other things on the ship that are available.

MAYBE carnival should put NO SMOKING signs on every single balcony just to guarantee that everyone is properly educated on this touchy subject?

I'd take a fellow smoker any day of the week over a screaming kid.

IMHO

Luckily there are lots of pleasant experiences to be shared also, 22 cruises with CCL and I have never had a problem with anything.

I can beat that one! this was crazy!!! we were in the casino last month and a young girl late 20s i would guess, walks by us, sits on a chair and puts out a joint in her open cigarette package flap

casino bartenders started with, " do you smell that weed, weed" and were looking everywhere, she then popps around our corner, snuffs it out and lights a cigarette, nothing was ever done about it that was saw... i dont think they ever found out who it was

how do they get it on the ship iwth such screening??

Nobody really cares about weed anymore. Certainly she shouldn't have been smoking it in the casino, but what did you want them to do? Give her a ticket?
