Applying C&A discount to clearance rate

Can our Diamond discount be applied to clearance rate cabins?

 

We were watching rates for May 2016 on Liberty and recently saw that E3 balconies were on clearance for $729pp (Normally $950 with past guest discount and $1425 w/o). We prefer the JS, but with E3's at 1/2 the price I could not pass up the deal especially when the TA threw in $175 obc and dinner for 2 at Chops.

 

I just assumed that our Diamond discount would not apply to "clearance" cabins and did not ask for it to be applied.

You could try doing a mock booking on the RCI website and see if you get a discount with your C&A number. If you do then call your TA and get it added.

Tried that, but Royal not offering the clearance rate.

 

I sent email to TA late yesterday, but don't expect to hear back until Monday.

Since RCI is not offering that rate I assume you got a group rate through your TA. In that case further discounts may not apply. It never hurts to call C&A to see if the discount can be added, tho your TA would have to do it.

If you are using a popular online TA, I think I know which one because I use them, too. We have booked two trips through them that were "clearance rates". When we first submitted the reservation to the TA, it did not show the discount. Once the TA actually submitted the reservation to RCL, the confirmation returned to us INCLUDED the C&A discount, so the price shown was less than what we first booked through the TA. I'm pretty sure the clearance rate offered is something done by the TA and RCL has nothing to do with that price.

TA has now applied the C&A discount which brings our total closer to $600pp and still gave us the $175 obc. For a 7 night cruise I think that is a hell of a deal. :D
