KiwiFunCruiser Posted September 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2015 We have early dining and our friends have late. They want early and have been put on wait list as they don't want anytime, due to past experiences. We have all agreed we would be happy to swap. Has anyone ever done this or know if this would be allowed?. Thanks in advance.:)
shredie Posted September 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2015 Both of you visit the MaitreD on the first day of the cruise and see if he can switch you.
Steelers36 Posted September 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2015 You should both contact Princess Customer Service, have your res files cross-referenced and request to dine with each other. Assuming you are wanting a table for 4?
eandj Posted September 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 19, 2015 (edited) Since you both just want to exchange, and you have the assigned table space, see the maitre d and you should easily switch assignments. If they get thru the wait list by cruise date, then just you need to go request to switch to anytime. Edited September 19, 2015 by eandj

KiwiFunCruiser Posted September 19, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted September 19, 2015 Thank you all for your advice. yes, we will see the maitre d when we board. We would like to eat together but because the early dining is full, I did not think that would be possible so we will dine a couple of nights all together at the specialties.:)

He will most likely be able to set you up together in early traditional, but it might not take effect to the next evening. o Only if he cannot set you both up with early traditional should you ask to trade places. If this happens, it also may not take effect until the next evening.

There are always options on Princess. Lots of cruisers change their minds once onboard. By the day or for the whole cruise. So don't be shy. Just ask. I wouldn't worry. On other lines, you are locked in to your initial choice. Princess rarely says "no". Especially if you are a little flexible. They will work with you.;) That's the facts. Not an opinion. Rare Coral Posted September 19, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 19, 2015 (edited) Have your travel agents link your dining assignments together. Whenever we do this, we always end up at the same table, even if one couple is waitlisted. Both couples need to contact their TA with the other couple's booking number. If you do not end up at the same table, just see the Matride on the first day. Edited September 19, 2015 by Coral

It's also a good idea to keep in mind that what one person may have observed one time or another is not necessarily how things will work across the fleet. Chunder Worthy Posted September 21, 2015 #14 Share Posted September 21, 2015 Has anyone ever done this or know if this would be allowed? It's nice that you ask but frankly, so long as it's an even swap and parties are accounted for, they unequivocally couldn't care less. I wouldn't even bother confusing the issue by bringing it to anybody attention (and would explain only if for some highly unlikely reason, another specifically questions you about it). It's just a meal; there's no need for obsessive formality.

Still need to either: a) swap officially b) trade their cruise cards with each other so they can get to the correct table when they go the first evening (The late seating couple can't show up at early seating with a cruise card that says late seating and a different table.)
