Spa Balcony on Splendor

Anyone who has cruised in a spa balcony on the Splendor - do you have any comments/reviews about the cabin and the amenities? Maybe a picture or two?

Also, read in another thread that Splendor may be going into dry dock in March 2016? Does anyone have any info on that?

We have stayed in a Spa Suite on the Splendor. The amenities are nice, getting to use the Thalassotherepy spa is very nice. Quietest floors on the ship.

It's the same as a regular balcony cabin except that you get a different color scheme and a different color pool towel and upgraded toiletries and of course unlimited spa pass.

Great photos, thank you for sharing them!

A few question as me and my 2 Sisters will be staying in a spa balcony room as well:

I see you have 3 beds in there, we will also need the 3 beds. Is that 3rd bed where the couch located comfortable?

And I know only 2 people are included on the spa pass. When I was booking the cruise, the two representatives had no idea how to get the third person a spa pass, the cost, the robe and slippers, etc. Do you happen to know how much that third spa pass is?

And I have read conflicting stories about water bottles, cans, wine, etc.

I read water bottles are no longer allowed, but you buy them on the Carnival website for 2.99 before the cruise and it will be in your room when you get there?

You can carry on a case of soda; does that mean in addition to your carry on piece of luggage you can carry on a case of soda/seltzer water (my choice is seltzer)

And how about wine? I read 1 - 755ml bottle per person, but is that a carry on as well or does that go in your luggage?

And I have been on other cruises before, and the dinner dress codes were enforced..

How many nights do you need to wear fancy dress? I see something about cruise casual. I have taken 1 other Carnival cruise before and brought dress clothes for every night, but if that can be avoided and I can dress casually, that would save on packing.

Thanks for whatever answers you can provide!

From Carnival's website, the cost for 3rd person is $189 for the length of the cruise. Not sure if that includes the robe & slippers, but I would think yes.

I read water bottles are no longer allowed, but you buy them on the Carnival website for 2.99 before the cruise and it will be in your room when you get there? If you go on Carnival's website you will get the definitive information. But having just returned from a cruise, I can tell you that you CANNOT carry on bottles of water or soda or juice. Cans (12 per person) of any non-alcoholic liquid are fine. You can purchase the water on their website to have it delivered to your cabin upon arrival...or shortly thereafter.

You can carry on a case of soda; does that mean in addition to your carry on piece of luggage you can carry on a case of soda/seltzer water (my choice is seltzer) There is no limit to your "carry on" luggage, so yes in addition to regular luggage you carry on your cans of drinks.

And how about wine? I read 1 - 755ml bottle per person, but is that a carry on as well or does that go in your luggage? The bottle of wine must be with you as a carry on, cannot go into your checked luggage.

I have taken 1 other Carnival cruise before and brought dress clothes for every night, but if that can be avoided and I can dress casually, that would save on packing. There are 2 "elegant" evenings where you can dress up. Actually this cruise I would say most of the people did take advantage of that. I wore long gowns both nights and many others did likewise. Many cocktail dresses and sparkly tops were seen. The men were nicely turned out in suits, I did see a few tuxedos. Many nicely pressed shirts and ties. As for cruise casual, that runs the gammit! Most wear nice slacks, skirts, sundresses, etc though I also saw shorts and golf shirts or t-shirts! Trust me, it is not enforced on any of the Carnival ships I have been on, but can't say it wouldn't be on the Splendor.

Thanks for whatever answers you can provide!

Hope this helps!

I'll be in a spa balcony beginning Friday. I always write a thorough review, so the cabin and spa will be included when I return.

Pretty sure the 3rd person spa access is the same as for anyone else on the ship who wants to purchase for the week. Don't think any other amenities are included. Basically, the 3rd person is treated as though not in a spa cabin at all. But, this is Carnival, so you never know. What they do on one sailing on one ship may not be how it is handled on other sailings or other ships! Consistency is not their strong point. ;)

Wondrwomn, in addition to Florings helpful responses, check Carnival's FAQ section. They do actually attempt to answer all the "standard" questions.

Here you go...

It was nice. I'm glad I got to try one out, but I don't think I'd spring for the money to do it again (unless the price was only marginally more than a standard cabin). I do sail solo often and I have to keep my cabin price as low as possible. I'd want a whole lot of sea days next time, or an itinerary that I've done often as I never stay on the ship when I sail. The problem with sea days was the "wave pool" we encountered instead of the Thalassotherapy Pool. :p

Hi! Happy New Year all :)

I just read somewhere that spa cabins are located down the hall from the casino and smoke from the casino wafts down into the spa balcony rooms area, is this true?

The casino is on deck 5 and the spa rooms we are on is deck 10 (in 2 days) :)

Not even close to one another

Not true. Spa cabins begin on deck 10 all the way forward. The casino is 5 decks below and mid-ship - whoever told you that clearly has never been.

Where did you read that or did you read that while drinking on new year's eve. One is on the 5 fl while the rooms are on floor 10.

Unsure if comment was rude or just plain sarcastic, but definitely unwarranted.
