Cruiseeker Posted October 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2015 If you have just gotten back from Dominica, how was the state of the island? There was some information out that they have areas with no power and many are suffering from illness. Any of this true?
CruiserBruce Posted October 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2015 Probably asking this on the Dominica board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=151 where there is a big thread on Erika, would be beneficial.
capriccio Posted October 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2015 The first Royal Princess cruise of the season due to stop in Dominica returns to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow so we should get more info then. I leave tomorrow on a B2B that includes the Dominica stop on the second leg. All I have heard from the current cruise was a posting on our Roll Call about donating school supplies. She didn't mention anything about the condition of the island.
BroncoLvrs Posted October 12, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2015 I received the following message 1 Sep from our tour guide: Thanks for your concern. There was quite a bit of Damage done to the Island by TS Eryka and unfortunately about 31 are confirmed dead so far. I am doing fine since most of the damage was about 5 miles of where I live. It's sad but we are up and trying to do what we can as fast as we can. Thanks again for your concern and hopefully we will see you in 2017. The Island will be back be better than ever. The island has remarkable spirit!
