What should we do after our cruise? Our flight doesn't leave til 540 pm and we will have luggage with us.We well have about 6 to 7 hours to play a little more.We plan a early supper because of long flight back to New Orleans .

Just a little read down the board, you will see a variety of Honolulu activities. Pearl Harbor and the other points of interest there- Missouri, etc.

Go to Waikiki. Climb Diamond Head. Drive the North Shore. Many ideas mentioned just down the board.

I would try to book a hotel room for the day. IMO, there's nothing worse than trying to "kill time"...not having a "home base"...no washing up before the flight....keeping your luggage in a rental car and wandering aimlessly....it's just not fun. Been there, done that...and NEVER again!!!

The problem with doing something on your own is the luggage. You could taxi to the airport and rent a car and head out somewhere, but as another poster mentioned, that is not always a fun day if you don't have a good plan.

Or, your cruise ship probably has tours set up for departure day which will drop you at the airport after, like Pearl Harbor or a North Shore drive. Your luggage goes with you. Since you have a long flight ahead of you, this might be more relaxing. Roberts Hawaii also may offer these pick up at ship and drop off airport tours. They will indicate "for flights leaving after xxpm" only.

The other option would be a service offered at the airport which will collect and hold your luggage for you at the airport. They will return it to you anywhere on the airport property within 15 min of your call. You could then take a taxi to Waikiki Beach, walk around, shop, eat or spend some beach time till you head back to the airport. I don't know if they will pick up at the ship. They have been in business many years and claim never to have lost a bag. Can't recall the name, but if you google Honolulu luggage storage, I'm sure you can find it.
