SeaWatch Posted October 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2015 For the first time - ever - we can cruise in October (2016). Not looking at costs or flights: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE OCTOBER ITINERARY?
iancal Posted October 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2015 (edited) Eastern Med or western Med We have done four over the past few years. Usually in early/mid Oct. All booked inside the final payment window. No issue whatsoever in obtaining reasonably priced air 45 days out on any of them. On last years we did cruise air one way home because it was so well priced with great connections. Various cruise lines. InTheWASide Posted October 22, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2015 Some transatlantic itineraries are incredible that time of year... usually the best ones are a collector voyage that combines that last Europe cruise with the transatlantic. Otherwise Canada/New England can be gorgeous that time of year and many times there is even a reposition cruise from Canada down to Florida. Of course October usually has some kind of massive Pacific/Asia/South Pacific itinerary that might be worth considering too
dorisis Posted October 22, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2015 For us, September and October are favorite cruise months. Med. Caribbean, South Pacific, Southern route TA, Canada-New England. Good weather and fewer crowds. Even Alaska in early September.

sail7seas Posted October 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) Canada/NE weather is very hit or miss in mid October. It can be cool and rainy. Sure, you could get good weather but there is a reason the last Canada/NE cruises each fall are priced lower. The Med on the other hand can be so beautiful in that time span. Of course, weather is never a guarantee. Edited October 23, 2015 by sail7seas

First on The Eurodam. Did 3 on The Nieuw Amsterdam! She is our favorite, but will be on the west coast, so The Eurodam is taking her sisters place. scm1848 Posted October 23, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2015 This year has been unusually cool in Europe the entire month. We landed in Split, Croatia one year on Oct. 6, and had 10 glorious days before the rain, cold and winds hit by the time we got to Zagreb. If you could move your departure to late September, into October, I would recommend it, unless you don't mind cooler/cold weather.

Leaving Sept 1st 2016 spending time in a apt. In Paris, and down in Nice. Will follow to Venice to do cruise going to Barcelona. Since we will be in the Med in the past has always been nice weather, but Paris is always a throw of the dice with rain, even in August as well as in March or April.
