Rain is never far away in New Zealand.:D

Especially in Fiordland and the west coast of the South Island. :D

With a mean annual rainfall of 6,813 mm (268 in) on 182 days a year, a high level even for the West Coast, Milford Sound is known as the wettest inhabited place in New Zealand and one of the wettest in the world. Rainfall can reach 250 mm (10 in) during a span of 24 hours.

It can look amazing. When we drove into Milford Sound some years ago it was raining very heavily. Because the hilltops were swathed in low cloud it looked like there were waterfalls coming straight out of the clouds. Pure magic!

We did an overnight trip on the sound and next morning woke up to blue skies, lots of waterfalls, and amazing views. Couldn't ask for better than that. :)

Skipping Akaroa.

A tad windy.

Scan display at one stage saud force 12.

That's a shame GUT. It doesn't take much for them to cancel Akaroa but Force 12?

As you know, we missed a couple of Ports in the Pacific immediately before your cruise. The Diamond isn't having a good run with weather and we are back on her in a few weeks for NZ so I hope the weather improves for all our sakes.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

Cheers

Di

So far Diamond has missed at least one port each cruise this season since arriving in Sydney.
