Beachin2 Posted October 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Reading that the port is closed due to wind/rain/weather and a grounded tanker. The Navigator and CCL Magic are still in port and are delayed. Can't get the port web cam to come up to verify?????
cindytx3092 Posted October 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Both ships are still in Galveston, I saw them from the Pier 23 cam. Talk on that blog is it weather related and not the tanker.
spookwife Posted October 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2015 the storm left SA this morning about 10 ish and was headed straight at Houston/Galveston. we had minimal flooding, a little right at the Zoo( did not check downtown and the Riverwalk, but chances are she was a bit high as well) would not surprise me if the port had crap conditions. LoneStarJeffe Posted October 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Suspect high winds are keeping Navigator and Magic docked until conditions improve. I suspect a delay oin departure will pay off in smoother travel as the weather is improving slowly over time. If they leave now, there would be a lot of rocking. :)

PamJack Posted October 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Thanks for this. I assumed the delays were weather related.

kyriecat Posted October 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 25, 2015 I just got a call from my mom who is on Navigator. She said that sailing is delayed until tomorrow morning and that RC announced they would be sailing the itinerary backwards (Roatan first, Belize second, Cozumel last) but she didn't have revised port dates/times yet. Clarea Posted October 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Friends are on board now, NOS won't leave until 9am tomorrow. Itinerary is reversed. Greg Wow, the folks with the unlimted drink packages will be unhappy when the drinks stop. I would not be surprised if Royal gives them some sort of OBC to cover it. kyriecat Posted October 25, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Greg - Did your friends have updated port dates & times yet? My mom has private excursions booked for Cozumel and Roatan. She asked me to contact her excursion providers to let them know about the changes but I wasn't sure what to tell them regarding new dates and times. They were enjoying the Diamond Lounge. Greg

Firefighterhoop Posted October 26, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Bob, are there certain amounts or brands of each liqour they have that they can serve or how exactly does the liquor law work? Thanks!

Thanks! Whatever they serve when they are within 12 miles of the Texas coast has to have a Texas stamp. They buy limited quantities of that, I assume because it's more expensive than what they usually buy, and when they are out, no more alcohol can be served. One time we were delayed a few hours leaving, and they ran out of beer. Edited October 26, 2015 by clarea

There would be a shipload of un happy cruisers if they didn't and ran out of booze early in the evening.
kyriecat Posted October 26, 2015 #19 Share Posted October 26, 2015 I got an update from my mom. Navigator will be in Roatan from 10 am to 6 pm on Wednesday, in Belize from 8 am to 5 pm on Thursday, and in Cozumel from 7 am to 5 pm. She said the were going to leave Galveston at 10 am on Monday and have sea days on Tuesday and Friday.

Yes, I was thinking the folks with the unlimited packages would not be happy.
kyriecat Posted October 26, 2015 #21 Share Posted October 26, 2015 According to my mom, they were letting people off the ship so The Strand is probably doing some good business, assuming people are willing to brave the wind and rain.
Rare broberts Posted October 26, 2015 #22 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Another hour or two, and they will be out of Texas stamped liquor! There is bound to be a 24x7 liquor store nearby. It may even deliver. :D

We were on Voyager out of Galveston several years ago and trapped there in fog until Tuesday morning. They must have brought extra Texas stamped liquor on board as they never ran out although the selection was limited in some bars. Firefighterhoop Posted October 26, 2015 #25 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Thanks for the info. I was aware that the liqour sold in Texas had a hefty tax on it and that the ship had to charge those extra taxes, but didnt know they also had to have the stamped bottles on top of that.
