takeadip Posted October 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Should we stop worrying so much about all the "kids" in the hot tubs and maybe direct some of that energy to making sure our adult NCL guests who take the "unlimited" Booze advertisement quite literally then decide to go for a hot soak while completely drunk.. a friend of mine just lost his father in a hot tub accident where he actually was intoxicated and stayed in the water to long...he had a heart attack and was found floating..im surprised that with the huge push to stay competitive in the industry NCL does not make cruisers more aware of the dangers of mixing Booze with Hot tubs... -Mark
DreamingBig1 Posted October 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Well... I think NCL should have pretty tight security. There are videos everywhere. Plus staff/security are present. Plus this is a problem that can happen on any cruise, with any line. Disney allows you to carry alcohol on board, so if you really want to go on a nice binger do a cruise with Disney. LOL! The point being that if somebody is bound and determined to get drunk, they will do it regardless of if its free. I also don't think it's going to be a free for all with the booze. I have a feeling it's going to be just like any other cruise. At this point, only the Sky is giving all parties unlimited booze automatically. The rest you have to opt for it as your promotion. Secondly, those drinking are adults and they are responsible for themselves. Third, children should be supervised by their parents. Sorry about your friend's father. LrgPizza Posted October 27, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 27, 2015 It is a fair warning you've made. As someone who has high blood pressure, I know better than to sit in one longer than about 15 minutes at a time. I'm always amazed at the people that will plant themselves in a hot tub for hours sometimes, whether or not alcohol is involved.
rvsullivan Posted October 27, 2015 #15 Share Posted October 27, 2015 (edited) everyone is getting it even studios till january,,i think Not really. Many/most have it available as a choice right now, but that doesn't mean they are selecting it. Read the post on here to see many who chose otherwise. So far there have been no reports that I've noticed talking about drunks on the ships and the package has been available for quite some time. Adults are responsible for their own behavior. maywell Posted October 27, 2015 #17 Share Posted October 27, 2015 everyone is getting it even studios till january,,i think I didn't it get for my studio room next year - I took the shore excursion credit instead. Why? Because I can't drink enough to make make up for the service charges - can only drink 1-2 a day now due to medical condition. Same reason why I didn't take the SDP/UDP either and the company is paying for the Verizon IPhone charges, so no need to get Wifi either. I rather have a choice in promos, instead of getting something I can't really used or is already cover by my job - and in my case, shore excursion credit is a lovely choice for me because I'm always getting off at ports, even Nassau. :)

bbryan5 Posted October 27, 2015 #20 Share Posted October 27, 2015 those drinking are adults and they are responsible for themselves. THIS. You know whats really screwed up with this world? Self Righteous people that think they could run your life better than you. It's time to stop worrying about what the next guy is doing, how much he's drinking, how much he's smoking, how much he's losing in the casino, and worry about your dam SELF. Stop thinking you're better than the next guy, and stop trying to make decisions for him. End of rant.

This is what you've decided we should all do? It has to do with people minding their own business and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing, and worry about themselves. takeadip Posted October 27, 2015 Author #24 Share Posted October 27, 2015 WOW THIS TOOK A VERY NEGATIVE TURN......LOL the point of my post was to bring attention to the problem with excessive drinking and then making life threatening poor decisions...people cant care for themselves...history has proven that...when you read the caution label on toothpaste that says "do not swallow" its written for the lowest common denominator...so goes it for those who lounge in the hot tubs for excessive times...the signs posted by the hot tub are very small font and you really cant read them.... i would rather be in a hot tub with a few unruly kids then a drunk 400 pound guy wearing a hair sweater that i can hear breathing over the roaring jets of the tub... my buddy works for the CDC and calls hot tubs...minestrone soup...just FYI -Mark
cliffd64 Posted October 27, 2015 #25 Share Posted October 27, 2015 First of all: It's the ULTIMATE Beverage Package, not the UNLIMITED Beverage Package. You do not have the right to drink yourself unconscious regardless of what you believe. The package does not force you to drink more, it merely removes the cost of the beverages from your final bill. Will people have an increased consumption? Probably, but that is only because they were limited by the high prices of drinks before, not because they were waiting for the chance to over do it. FYI: NCL will cut you off if you are horribly intoxicated. it's a safety issue at that point. I know in my case, having the UBP will not cause me to over indulge, because I am an adult, and I know what my limit is and being hung-over is not the way I would want to enjoy my vacation. The best benefit I can see having the UBP is not having to worry about the bill if we decide to have a few extra drinks during the day or night while having a good time. I prefer to believe that most people have this basic level of self control. The people who don't have that self control most likely will be drunk regardless of the package anyway. So, just like with dress code, I can only control one person's behavior, and that is my own. I will not give one single thought to anyone else's behavior regarding their consumption or hot tub activities unless it is impacting my own vacation.
