Apply for Carnival Credit Card and get $100 Gift Card

Just got an email inviting me to apply for the Carnival Credit Card and get $100 GC. You also get the 5,000 Fun Points after first purchase. It is only available as a click through from the email so check your inboxes!

I already have one, so no dice for me. But on the plus side, I did it from Carnival's site and got the 10,000 Fun Points instead of the 5,000. Figures.

far better credit cards for those who travel often. Look to United Explorer VISA or Chase Sapphire.

Agree. I'm not posting for the best credit card debate here, as there are far better ones which I also have. Just simply letting those know who may have been waiting for a special or have been on the fence. Kind of a nice bonus.

Thank you for the heads up. I will watch for the offer.

Also, on more than one occasion I've received offers from credit cards I already have. Even though the offers are for new members I've called up and gotten the bonus or points on 3 occasions. Worth a call to let them know as a valuable customer you'd like the same offer they are using to get new customers.

I got the email also just now and before I opened it was excited, thought it might be about the Black Friday sale! No such luck lol.

Like you, doesn't work for me.

I agree with others there are better cards but I like my CMC and when I looked at most of the others every one kept saying, they have a yearly fee...no thank you.

I also hope that people realize that opening a new credit card just for something like a $100 gift card can do more damage to your credit score than any benefit you receive. And deciding to close the account also has an impact. Credit decisions should not be taken lightly.

Since I've been sailing 2-3 times a year, I've thought about the Carnival card, but I prefer to just use one of the two cards I've had for years that have relatively-low interest rates and earn point/cash-back.

I'm guessing people either got this email offer or didn't/won't, so don't know that people need to watch for it.

I do find it interesting that I rarely get ANY emails from Carnival but I got this and one last week while I was on Splendor about Vista (which I've already booked). How about sending me something I want, like a free casino offer! ;)

No need to ever close a credit card. Let it sit open and add to age/history on your credit report. Opening a new card increases your overall credit and lowers your debt ratio, but shortens your average age. If you have top tier credit you won't take much of a ding at all and it is just for a short term. The process is known as "churning" and you can keep your score right around 800 easily.

Agree as my score will also attest to. But, alas, that's a different topic :)

I did NOT want this to be a credit counseling session thread. There are many ins and outs of credit scores which in some cases, it can be beneficial to open another card, and other times when it's a bad idea, but that's for another thread. I never carry a balance on any of my cards so APR is irrelevant to me.

Once again, just letting people know - especially the ones that were hoping to snag a bonus like last year's Black Friday special and have been on the fence about getting the card in anticipation. No guarantees that there will be another sale, but $100 is pretty decent if you were going to get one anyway. And maybe some appreciate the heads up to watch for it - they may think it's another junk email and delete it without reading it.

I also would like a casino offer! [emoji1]

Really? Sounds like product slutting to me. I had a Carnival MasterCard and an AA advantage card- they are in bed together- the return on this Carnival credit card is ridiculously minimal.

No need to worry as the offer is long gone. Besides I have no idea what "product slutting" is. And I was actually agreeing that the card isn't a good deal except for basically getting the $100 GC then stashing it away or cutting it up.
