Rare KKB Posted November 16, 2015 Author #26 Share Posted November 16, 2015 Since it's my first cruise on Celebrity, forgive me if my previous experious doesn't apply here... If you really don't need to spend it on other things- use the casino for conversion of your OBC into chips. Then what is remaining after your gambling time, you'd cash out your remaining chips, hopefully more than what you began with;) BTW: Using OBC may have a small fee when used at the casino...maybe 3%. Mike We like poker tournaments & they can be charged to our room with NO transaction fee. If we win, they put the winnings on our Poker Pro card...and we can cash those out at any time with no transaction fee.:D
kenevenpar Posted November 16, 2015 #27 Share Posted November 16, 2015 Have never paid more than $25 for an 8x10 photo on any cruise line. FIgure it is cheaper than a sitting fee anywhere else... The 8 X 10 is now $25 (standard pull down background, pre-dinner type), and these are not professional photographers (well I guess they get paid). SNJCruisers Posted November 16, 2015 #29 Share Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) Some people really enjoy trying to shame others who want or need to stay connected to the larger world while on a ship. I don't know what the motivation is for these posts. Feeling superior, I guess. No...not trying to feel superior at all or shame others for wanting to stay connected. When I am on vacation, I totally relax and cell phones and emails are an umbilical cord to reality at home that I want no part of until I get home. Some people need to stay connected because of work, children, etc, while others like myself want to get away from it all and take a mental break from the treadmill. The treadmill is my life 50 weeks a year, while the other 2 are spent on a well deserved vacation, which for me does not include the internet or cell phones. dodger1964 Posted November 16, 2015 #30 Share Posted November 16, 2015 We are on Silhouette for Christmas...If you are on before that, just leave the OBC for us and we will find a way to use it up! Actually, if I had same situation I would just let credit go back to credit card (if refundable), and if non-refundable would cash it out in the casino. Have a great cruise!
Rare KKB Posted November 17, 2015 Author #31 Share Posted November 17, 2015 Just deliberating my options! SNJ, we, too, do enjoy "disconnecting" while on a cruise. We use our phones for photos & alarm clock only. Other than that daily few minutes to clean out the inbox & shoot an email to the kiddos, we are "off the grid". Think of it this way--it is similar to loading the dishwasher & wiping the counters each day. It is just a few minutes, but helps SO much in the long run (as opposed to dumping everything in the sink until it is full...) A bit of a neat freak (as much as I can be with a full time job & 3 teens...), so I guess that even carries over to my inbox!:p

Ken At this moment I am looking at a 5X8 we had taken at our club about six years ago by a pro photographer. $90 as I recall and we don't look any better than in the ships' pictures. $25 is a steal but aside from the boarding photo, I doubt we'll be in the market now that tuxes are out. I can take casual pictures in Elegant Chic clothing at home.

Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk Ha!I wouldn't be caught dead in fancy black jeans, but if I did own them, I certainly would be wearing them when I had occasion to. Home doesn't mean just my house.;)

Rare KKB Posted November 18, 2015 Author #37 Share Posted November 18, 2015 Liquor. No need--got the drink plan free too! I agree about the photos--the night we are dressed up (I have always worn cocktail dresses for dinner & DH always wears dress pants & dress shirts, but not always a tie; no jacket since first cruise. Even our children like to dress for dinner each night), we try to get a photo--but it may or may not turn out, I just look for the best one of us! Yep, $25 is a steal! DrivesLikeMario Posted November 18, 2015 #38 Share Posted November 18, 2015 I'm in the same boat. What to do with all that extra OBC when you have free drinks and crew grats covered? And you get internet and laundry covered already too? Maybe I'll do a spa treatment or find something I like in the ship stores, but other than that, we'll be going to the casino & get the cash out I guess. SNJCruisers Posted November 18, 2015 #39 Share Posted November 18, 2015 What to do with all that extra OBC when you have free drinks and crew grats covered? You can always upgrade your drink package to premium for only 11.80 per day including gratuity so you can enjoy libations at the Martini and World Class Bars, as well as the fancy drinks at the Gastrobar and the upgraded wines and craft beers. HawaiianShirtDay Posted November 20, 2015 #42 Share Posted November 20, 2015 We're very good at spending OBC- massages, shirt pressing, specialty restaurants, a new tech device, a purse for the wife, frozen cocktails, some souvenirs for the dogsitters. Then again, we're looking forward to our first X cruise. We've only done RCCI where they try to sell you something every 5 feet. Not sure if our experience is relevant to X. We'll find out in 2016.
