We sailed on the Regal Thanksgiving week last year and they had buy one get second for $1. We are sailing Thanksgiving week again this year and was wondering if they still have it.

Thanks

If you mean the "happy hours " with Buy One Get on $1 twice a day in the two different lot get during the day/night, then yes, they do. Two weeks ago, the nighttime one was in Club 6, 11pm-12am. Not sure where the day one was -I want to say Crooners...could Have been Wheelhouse... The Patter will Have it listed.

I was joking when I said 'Why so early?' They apparently don't want to sell that much since most of the people would be in bed a sleep. One way of making off that they are really doing something for us. JMHO!

They are incenting people to come in off-peak times.

We just got off the Regal last week and they did have that buy 1 get 2nd for $1 Happy Hour. The problem was that the timing never worked for us. There was a daily happy hour from 3-4 in Crooners and another at 11pm-12 in the nightclub.

While I suppose the demographics of some of Princess' passengers might mean that many would be asleep at three in the afternoon, Crooners was packed during the afternoon happy hour. My wife and I took advantage of it every time.

So.....they really were "doing something for us".

Perhaps you have a skewed view of Princess demographics because on our recent 10 night Regal sailing, Club 6 had loads of people who were there specifically for the "happy hour" deal. Lots came in, got their drinks and went back to the casino, while others came in, took up the bar and seating in the front area for their hour and enjoyed their drinks, etc. Skywalkers on other ships has always had a continent who have come up just for the happy hour, with no intention of dancing. Plenty of people awake at that hour and imbibing.

You may be right. I only done 51 Princess cruises. Two more this year. lol

And 51 times, you were in bed by 11pm, so you didn't see the crowds of us getting our drinks at the evening happy hour! :D

IMHO, they are taking care of multiple demographics by doing an afternoon session and a late night one.

Works for me!! :)

Enjoy your cruises!!

I really didn't get the joke either.

How do you know most people are in bed asleep if you're busy sleeping? 11-12 is actually an ideal time for happy hour for me. And I know from past sailings the "club" venue is usually so packed at that hour you can't always sit down.

Yup, that's 51 times you've missed the other demographics onboard who stay up later, enjoy later night activities such as dancing, casino and drinks. So, I guess you do have a skewed view of Princess demographics, as you only see the ones awake when you are. Plenty of night owls that sail Princess...

I am amused at all you late drinkers. Just because you are up so late drinking there are many others that don't drink that late. Different strokes for different folks. LOL

Let me know when you are cruising next and I will make it a point to meet you there.

I believe this was mentioned earlier, but I think the reason 3-4 and 11-12 were chosen is to generate significantly increased drink sales at hours that would not have done so otherwise. And as others have said, I have experienced very busy bars at both times.

I agree with your statements. However, it would be nice to have it at an earlier hour during the evening. For example, Celebrity has their FREE DRINKS from 5-7PM for Elite and above. RCI has their FREE DRINKS from 5-8:30PM for Diamond and above.

Now those are a real perk. Not like Princess giving their $5 drink of the evening or the BOGO$1. JMHO!

And I amused at all the early risers. Just because someone is an early riser doesn't mean everyone is. Exactly right, different strikes for different folks. Glad we can all amuse each other. We're next on Island in Dec. Would be eye opening for you I'm sure, to see how may folks are still up at midnight!

You've missed the point completely. The "buy one, get one for $1" has nothing to do with perks. Unlike your Celebrity and RCI comparisons, the special is open to EVERYONE.

For the love of chipped beef on toast, they're basically giving you two drinks for the price of one, and they're doing it twice in the day – once in the afternoon, once at night – how can anyone in their right mind have a problem with that?

You're talking apples and oranges there. Celebrity, RCI and Princess cocktail hours for upper level frequent cruisers are unrelated to Princess BOGOF$1. The "happy hours" twice a day are revenue generators, and a nice gesture to folks to get something for super cheap. Unrelated completely to frequent cruiser perks. Although, in some cases, they may be enough to turn the tide on someone coming back to Princess again.

I agree with you about Princess upper tier evening cocktail hours. We have attended exactly once since making platinum/elite or when saiking in suites. It's pointless for us as the drink is $5, not "free" and the snacks are so particular. Especially with the advent of the all-inclusive beverage package, there's no incentive to attend the event. Celebrity and RCI is at least free drinks, albeit limited menus (although RCIs addition of the three beverage vouchers each night is pretty good). Until Princess change that up, there's zero incentive for us to attend. Same for the BOGOF$1 too though, especially with the AIPB.

Again though, different strokes for different folks. Some people love the PES event, and go even evening. Glad they enjoy it.

The main difference is that Princess is offering the BOGO+$1 for ALL guests, not just those "elite and above." Everyone gets to line up to the bar EQUALLY. :D

I view this as comparing apples and oranges. The BOGO is a "perk" for everyone. It has nothing to do with loyalty perks. Again, based on my experiences it is very well received.

Edit...I guess I'm a little late in my response. :)
