Not unless it is very small.

The safe exactly that, just large enough for jewelry and passports etc. Have never heard of any issue with laptops. I always simply bury mine inside my suitcase under the bed, on the top shelf of the closet under life jackets or another place out of sight. Would think stealing a lap top and risking going to jail at some port and being thrown off the ship not worth the risk for any crew member. What would they do with it? Not hard to determine who had access to your cabin. Where could they hide it? They live in a VERY confined space where hiding a laptop would be VERY difficult to impossible.

Relax and enjoy your cruise.

Thank you :) My laptop is staying home! Haha, but my roomie needs to work on hers on the flight in so that she can truly relax on the ship. Now she's wondering where to store it in the cabin. It's her livelihood and can't take a chance on losing it. I told her I would ask in here :)

I've brought personal computers with me in the past and just like in a hotel room, I leave it sitting out on the desk. Never been touched. But mine isn't my livelihood, so I guess that makes it a little different.

Thanks for your reply!

Don't most laptops have a connection point for a locking security cable? Of course, with the right cutter, the cable can be cut...but anything that makes your laptop more difficult to take is generally enough protection..unless someone wants YOUR laptop vs looking for random theft items.

I've never had a problem with leaving any electronics or camera gear out in our cabin....perhaps I've been lucky. Certainly if the laptop is her livelihood, then she should make sure she has a backup of important information offline...perhaps a flash memory stick on her necklace (seriously) or similar so if the laptop is gone, the information isn't....or put the backup in the safe.

I agree with ghstudio...a backup is absolutely necessary. Perhaps one of the online services or a hard drive that can be stored in the safe. Personally I leave everything laying out including laptop, ipad, camera, cash and casino chips and have never had a problem on any cruise ship. Hotels, however, are another story...

I can't say I would go so far as to leaving out cash or casino chips (any number of ship's personnel can gain access to your room while you are not there - not to mention perhaps another passenger slipping in when the room stewards prop the doors open for cleaning - why tempt fate) but the cruise line would not stay in business long if things like laptops were regularly disappearing from staterooms. We leave things like that out all the time.
