hlsess Posted November 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) yes I know it is freestyle and you can wear what you want but do most dress decent at night-nice shirts/blazer for men and dresses/ nice pants for ladies- Or do you see people in mainly jeans/tshirts- my mother insists that my son brings a navy blazer....and I've told her times it is a casual cruise!! Rare www3traveler Posted November 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 28, 2015 Some people dress and others do not. My standard answer for the "Dress Up or Not Night" is wear what you would wear to church.
LrgPizza Posted November 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 28, 2015 I can almost count on one hand the number of blazers I see on men at night. I'd say the majority wear polo type shirts and khakis, but you see all extremes. You will see 10 times the amount of shorts as blazers.
ColinIllinois Posted November 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2015 No need to bring a jacket if you don't want to. A nice pair of slacks with a collared shirt is about as dressy as you need to be. Like you said though it's Freestyle. You'll see people in jeans and people in formal wear. Rare KeithJenner Posted November 28, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 28, 2015 I don't take much notice of what other people are wearing, but I'd say that anyone wearing a blazer would be in the minority. Most common is nice trousers and a casual shirt, but I'd say that jeans/shorts generally outnumber jackets. In the speciality restaurants there are often more people dressed up a bit more, but I'd still say that trousers and shirts are the most common. Moby0215 Posted November 28, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 28, 2015 If I had to wear a blazer then I would not be cruising. Lol. Jeans and a polo are as dressy as I get (at least on vacation). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SuiteTraveler Posted November 28, 2015 #10 Share Posted November 28, 2015 If we are going to Cagney's or Le Bistro, my husband will wear a business shirt and trousers and I will wear a maxi dress. If we are in Europe in early spring and it is chilly, my husband will add a sports coat.

econ Posted November 28, 2015 #13 Share Posted November 28, 2015 Sad to say, but last year on the Sun - MDR guests often dined in tee shirts & shorts. Not a deal closer, but a little uncomfortable[emoji19]

econ Posted November 28, 2015 #15 Share Posted November 28, 2015 The main dining rooms are very nice & the servers are professional. Just seems "under-dressed" for the dining environment.

Rare All-ready2cruise Posted November 28, 2015 #17 Share Posted November 28, 2015 I guess some don't appreciate the more relaxed dress code. Wear blinkers if you must, but concentrate only on what's important to you, your loved one/partner in crime/silly sidekick... whatever and whomever it might be. Stop with the "oh how can I enjoy my dinner when sitting next to someone wearing that" We love being able to wear what we're comfortable in and yes, it's usually nice top and slacks for me and nice dress shirt and pants for DH but I have no idea what those next to us are wearing, nor do I care. H&J Posted November 28, 2015 #19 Share Posted November 28, 2015 And make sure you wear the obligatory ball cap in all restaurants. You know the one; it has the name of your local pest control company logo on it.

We will be on The Epic over Christmas How old is your son, and does he like to dress up? Would more people tend to dress up on a Christmas Cruise? My husband never brings a blazer or suit on cruises. He'll wear a pair of dress pants, a button down collar shirt, and a necktie for cruises on Royal Caribbean. On NCL, he might not wear the tie.
