Can I pay cash during my cruise to pay down my account before they charge the credit card I have on file? Or will they charge my credit card a few times during the cruise when I hit certain dollar amounts?? I would like to pay down the account with whatever cash I may have left (or won in casino, :D) on like the last day or so so my credit card doesn't take a big hit.

You can pay with cash as well. I have done that a few times.

Our experience is that our credit card is charged only once, on the day we get off the ship.

Yes, you can do exactly what you wish to do. Just go to guest services when you want to make a payment. You can track your account on the TV in your cabin.

Your credit card will only be charged at the end of your cruise so cash payments made while onboard will reduce the account balance and billing amount.

Mine as well but they do auths on my card throughout the cruise. Those are just pending auths and always disappear after a few days.

Same with ours and I check it online daily at home and every few days when onboard as ship.

Yes, I ran into some issues on a previous cruise. I hadn't notified my credit card company of my travels. So there was a hold put on my card. RCI tried to do a authorization during the cruise which didn't work so of course I had to go to guests services. This wasn't the day I got off the ship, about half way through.

 

So somehow they must do checks or soft authorizations or something throughout the cruise.

I suggest you not wait until the last day as the lines at Guest Services can be very long.

NOTHING is charged to a credit card until the cruise is OVER....you have ample opportunity to pay your bill in cash, if you want to!
