Babycat Posted December 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2015 Never in a million years would I have thought I'd do this! I've mistakenly deleted all my daughters birthday photos because I was trying to make space for Christmas party photos. Ugh. There are no retakes with these sorts of things. I'm going to try to recover them. I hope this works.
kenevenpar Posted December 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2015 Memory cards are so inexpensive these days; I always keep plenty of extras on hand. I know, lesson learned.
papcx Posted December 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2015 I assume you mean you've deleted them from a SD card? Sometimes a file isn't actually "deleted" until you overwrite it by using the space for another photo. So don't use that SD card anymore. Get another one for the Xmas parties and put the other one somewhere safe. After Xmas do some googling and you'll hopefully be able to rescue your photos. If your a little unsure there are companies that will charge to do the service.
Babycat Posted December 22, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted December 22, 2015 Whew! I actually recovered all the photos and videos! I thought they were gone forever. Lesson learned for sure.
donaldsc Posted December 22, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2015 I hope that you learned your lesson. After every shoot, copy your photos from your card to your computer. Verify that they are on your computer. Back up from the computer to a backup drive. Then take the files off the card by formatting the card. This will ensure that this never happens again. Camera cards should be used for temporary storage only. Don
Rare mskaufman Posted December 22, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 22, 2015 I had that problem a couple of years ago. There are software products you can purchase that can recover the card, assuming that you only deleted the pictures and did not write over them. The software product I purchased actually let me verify that I could recover the pictures before I had to make the purchase. Sorry, I do not remember the name but look on Google or YouTube and you will find options. Good luck.
Rare pierces Posted December 22, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2015 RescuePro can be purchased separately or you can buy a new SanDisk Extreme Plus card that includes a downloadable licence for it. Excellent product that saved my bacon the one time I had a card fail on me. Dave
