Retired LEO Posted December 26, 2015 #26 Share Posted December 26, 2015 Retired LEO. Retired - Washoe County SO. I asked on the forums for the B2B we are on in January if there were any LEOs that wanted to trade patches. I had a lady from the UK ask what a LEO was. I told her that you call them Bobbies in the UK. She got the idea :) I called it quits on 10/31/14 after 23 years. I wanted to do 25 years but it was just getting too crazy as you well know. hallasm Posted December 26, 2015 #28 Share Posted December 26, 2015 My 'run rate' has been as low as one cruise per year for the last 20 years - try to increase to two to three cruise per year - but might change when I'm retired:)
shippmates Posted December 26, 2015 #29 Share Posted December 26, 2015 We have to wait until April and then again not until November. Hope when I retire we can cruise more often.
harry0 Posted December 26, 2015 #30 Share Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) We are going on a sort of B2B on the 16th of this month first the Adveturer then the Summit. I always wanted to walk off one ship with my bags and then to another. Actually I dont even know if I can walk to it. Any thoughts? We are not the kind of people who never brags about our trips but this thread seems to be a good place to and we are very excited!!! impatientlywaiting Posted December 26, 2015 #31 Share Posted December 26, 2015 We are finally getting to do our first b2b in September - Vancouver, B.C. to Hawaii to Sydney! Can't wait for that!
Rare island lady Posted December 26, 2015 #32 Share Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) Everyone else was complaining so just thought I'd throw in mine. We have to wait a whole week before our first cruise of the year  We are so upset with Celebrity and RCCL that we're only going to do seven cruises in 2016. That should teach them  Hmmm...seven cruises already booked. Sounds like a good plan to me. ;) Edited December 26, 2015 by island lady
Rare island lady Posted December 26, 2015 #33 Share Posted December 26, 2015 I too want to complain about all the excellent food I've had on RCCL, Princess and Celebrity over the last decade. I've had to clean my computer key board of drool several times as I re-looked at the pictures I took of the meals when on board. Ahh...food porn!! :D
Ontario Cruiser Posted December 26, 2015 #34 Share Posted December 26, 2015 Time is running out for us my husband is 89 and I am 78 so we are trying to do as many as we can. The big issue is travel insurance. Not booking a year ahead anymore but have a B2B on the Summit Jan 16th Anthem of the Seas Feb 21st 55th anniversary and finally the Jewel crossing April28th. We so lucky to be still be traveling Happy New Year to all and good health Ontario Cruiser

That was part of why I posted what I did. Yes, a little bragging - I'm retired, financially comfortable and enjoying life, but also to post something positive, bring a smile and give others a chance to do the same. As Retired LEO knows, with the field we were in, you have to stay positive ...and smile (it is contagious) :D Ontario Cruiser - Congratulations on 55 years married! Happy New Year :) Edited December 26, 2015 by geospyder

Too many, much younger than we are, fall to the wayside too early. Enjoy life while can and live it to fullest. happybos Posted December 26, 2015 #37 Share Posted December 26, 2015 I have the perfect solution to your long wait to start your cruising year - on Tuesday I board VOS for the New Year cruise. mollyeilis Posted December 27, 2015 #38 Share Posted December 27, 2015 We have to wait a whole week before our first cruise of the year  Darn that calendar, not being able to skip the week. :) Next time, sounds like a B2B starting Christmas is necessary. uh ... you realize how that makes you sound, right ? I don't know what *you* were going for, but to me, it makes them sound super-lucky and pretty darned funny. I have 16 cruises booked with 13 of them in 2016. How does that sound to you? :) Sigh. Even luckier.
krazy4kruisin Posted December 27, 2015 #39 Share Posted December 27, 2015 You Sir, (Madam?)Have NO cruise control, neither do I with 3 booked, lol Hahahahahahahahahahaha No Cruise Control!!!!!! Love it, Neither do I!
AndyT3 Posted December 27, 2015 #40 Share Posted December 27, 2015 Man, I wish we had the financial ability, and the ability to take enough time off of work, to cruise as often as some of you folks! We're both still young (mid 20s) so we have plenty of time to worry about that. We're still trying to hold it together until October gets here! GolfMom321 Posted December 27, 2015 #41 Share Posted December 27, 2015 I've gotten quite a chuckle reading this thread. My kids think something is seriously wrong with me because I love cruising so much. I refuse to tell them how many future cruises I've already booked. No one outside of CC knows that info! 2016: 7 (first one is just a week away!!) 2017: 3 so far, but it's early yet! Hi, I'm Wendy, and I'm a cruise addict! I'm going solo from Tampa on Brilliance 1/16, getting off and walking to Vision 1/21, then driving to Cocoa Beach after Vision to get on Freedom! My suggestion is don't overpack, and have great rolling luggage! My husband and I were just on Vision last month and I checked it out.....looks quite doable, if it's not raining! I don't know about the San Juan port (if that's where you will be).

And yes, I love the planning aspect as well. I like to have a game plan no matter where we travel. Once we arrive however, it usually goes right out the window and we just wing it. I've found it often works better that way.

We were in our forties, but had traveled all over the USA with children. So, for the last twenty years, we've been cruising! When our grandchildren complain about having only been on ONE cruise, my response is think how many you will be on by the time you are my age! Your first was when you were 7(and 10) years old, so you have over thirty years more cruising to catch up to the age I was when I started cruising! Cruise bug.....yep, I got it after my first cruise. I've been on 80 and have three booked for January......more time "off" and more $$$ makes it much easier to cruise now.

Luckily, I just changed careers and am now working for a very large candle company (chances are you have one in your home!), in a corporate IT position. This has just about doubled my annual salary, and they have a much more generous PTO program than my previous employer. Hopefully, this will give us the opportunity to cruise at least once per year. Twice would be good, but we usually fly down to Orlando area once per year to visit family. Unless, we take a short weekend cruise out of one of the FL ports :D

My husband is in IT with FedEx, and I'm no longer employed or keeping children or grandchildren full time! So, the three cruises in January are solo, building up cruise points for my husband and me! My husband is close to retirement age, but would love to retire and still work somewhere part time.....but the company would have to offer much vacation time! Paid or unpaid!:D He's told his managers at FedEx, he would work there less hours, more time off, but so far no offers!;)

nanwel Posted December 27, 2015 #49 Share Posted December 27, 2015 Yes, doable - take your time, do not rush to be first off the ship. You will have to do customs, walk to the next port entry. You may be able to drop your luggage and go for a walk and come back before boarding!
