CherryG Posted December 12, 2017 #176 Share Posted December 12, 2017 It was the week of the 11th of November. Can't remember exact date. The other ship arrived almost the same time as we did on the NAmsterdam, which was around 8am. Water was calm and no problems tendering in for us, so I don't think that was the problem. We wondered if it had something to do with Customs not clearing them. It was odd. The ship was there, then it was gone.

I was there the next day on K'dam. We were joined by Eurodam. The buffet was a madhouse and the beach was packed. However, a little bit of a walk down the beach, just past the bungalows, and it was much more open and pleasant.
RetiredMustang Posted December 13, 2017 #178 Share Posted December 13, 2017 Prinsendam was supposed to join you on the 17th. ... Yes, it was Prinsendam. We was aboard her on Nov. 17, and the Captain came on the announcing system and told us we could not find a lee that was safe enough for tendering; it was not a customs thing, but a safety and ship handling thing. The Nieuw Amsterdam has the newer system with computerized dynamic positioning with the azipods under computer control to maintain position. Prinsendam did not have that, and we could not safely anchor and tender, so the Captain aborted and we went back to sea. BTW, we have been to HMC 19 times, and made it ashore 16. The first was January 1998, about two months after it opened. We are not so happy about some of the changes, like the Pirate bar, but are OK with others. It is still a nice place to go ashore early, walk past the horse corrals to the rocks, and then back, and then claim seats at the I Could Stay Here Forever bar. After almost 20 years now, it still is nice to visit. Dave
Rare mightycruisequeen Posted December 13, 2017 #179 Share Posted December 13, 2017 I still love Half Moon Cay, and I doubt very much that I'll ever get over it.

doone Posted December 14, 2017 #181 Share Posted December 14, 2017 I love Half Moon Cay, we always look forward to enjoying a great relaxing day on the beach and swimming. I love when the itinerary has HMC as our last stop....

kevingastreich Posted December 15, 2017 #185 Share Posted December 15, 2017 The thing I don't like about HMC is that you have to pay for shade.
