Avis - Juneau/Skagway - how to be sure a reserved car will be available?

With the demand for summer rental cars in Juneau and Skagway, what is best to make sure you actually get a reserved car for the day? Both are with Avis which does not require a CC to make the reservation.

Up until the past 10 years or so, rental cars never needed a credit card to hold them. I haven't rented cars recently but I remember reading about the change and how surprised people were with the change.

Key is to pick up your car on time. Skagway is more limited than Juneau.

 

I too would suggest, you call the local offices just prior to arriving and confirm the reservation.

Very few car rental reservations require a credit card now. The only ones that do are if the company offers a discount for prepaying or for "luxury" cars.
