time4u2go Posted January 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2016 Where does Sunshine depart from? How many nights is each cruise? How much would the Serenade cost in $US? What type of cabin is the price shown for on each cruise? (Sunshine lists 4 cabin types, Serenade doesn't list any)

I can't speak to the Carnival cruise, but we did that exact cruise on Serenade this past November and had a great time. The ship was very clean and the port calls were good. Firefighterhoop Posted January 2, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 2, 2016 Personally I would do the Serenade. When they turned the Destiny into the Sunshine they added many cabins, took out public lounges (to add the cabins) and recent reviews have all echoed this. However, the Serenade doesn't offer all that much for kids to do compared to the larger RCCL ships... so if you are traveling with middle aged kids, there would be a lot more for them to do on the Sunshine (However you would have to factor in the above.) impatientlywaiting Posted January 2, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 2, 2016 We were on the Serenade out of New Orleans in 2013. She's a beautiful ship and we had a wonderful time. You can't go wrong with her!
NOSaints1 Posted January 2, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted January 2, 2016 I still wish she sailed out of NO, seems like the ship has more dining options than the Sunshine.
lj77346 Posted January 2, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 2, 2016 I've sailed on both the Serenade and the Sunshine and had enjoyable cruises on both. However, I would favor the Serenade because it seems to have much more room in the public spaces, especially around the pool. The only area that I feel the Sunshine is superior to the Serenade is the food. Also with the Serenade leaving out of Fort Lauderdale, you likely will have warm weather as soon as you board the ship and not have long sea days returning to port at the end of the cruise. NOSaints1 Posted January 2, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted January 2, 2016 This is one of Carnivals journey cruises
Tatka Posted January 2, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 2, 2016 Easy choice for me. RCCL is a better company, Serenade is a wonderful ship (sailed on her sister Brilliance). Itinerary is better.
highseascruiser2 Posted January 2, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 2, 2016 I am glad this question was posted, as I am looking at the same question, but on the Canada/New England Fall 2016. I have sailed the Serenade of the Seas and was not impressed with the layout of the ship. the Centrum and location of stairs and elevators was really inconvenient. But since I really believe there is no "bad" cruise, I would sail her again. The sunshine seems to have many mixed reviews. One person I highly trust, who has sailed her, loves the ship and would sail her again. So I believe the Sunshine would be great for the Canada/New England, since the pool won't be used much. NOSaints1 Posted January 2, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted January 2, 2016 We've been to St Thomas, St Kitts, St Lucia and St Maarten haven't been to the rest of the islands, where's the best location for your stateroom which we would probably book OV

Coralc Posted January 2, 2016 #16 Share Posted January 2, 2016 Middle or forward, any deck if you wish to be close to the elevators. There are no aft elevators. :)
Clarea Posted January 3, 2016 #17 Share Posted January 3, 2016 Like certain deck, aft, mid or fwd. I try to avoid deck 10, to be away from potential noise from the pool deck above.
Coralc Posted January 3, 2016 #18 Share Posted January 3, 2016 I try to avoid deck 10, to be away from potential noise from the pool deck above. I don't think there are any ocean view staterooms on Serenade on Deck 10. So that wouldn't be an issue.
