Smoking areas on anthem

Recommended Posts

Hi, no flaming please! Can anyone please tell us the specific areas allowed for smoking? Are there any bars/club inside for same? How about a "indoor" cigar bar? Any information is appreciated. I'm sure the casino is OK. What about smoking on formal nights. Thanks in advance.

I saw outdoor glass-walled in areas on the pool deck for smokers, it was pretty big and they had lots of furniture. It was right outside the indoor pool area, at the outdoor pool deck. As for a cigar bar, sorry I don't know. Not sure what you mean about smoking on formal nights. Smoking areas would be the same all the time, right? Anyway the smoking area on the pool deck seemed nicely designed for the comfort and shelter of the smokers.

I don't know specifically about Anthem, but ever since Royal prohibited smoking on stateroom balconies, they no longer have smoke-free nights in the casino on formal nights.

Thanks! I thought casino still was 'smoke free' on formal nights! that's good. Can spend more money there, cause we'd stay longer LOL

Thanks, sounds like that will be just fine! I meant smoking in the Casino on Formal Nights! I wonder if that area near the pool is near the Solarium area? Thanks again. I just don't know what deck is starboard side for smoking. Still trying to find out which 'bar' or club might have smoking?

No public bars or lounges will allow smoking.

The ONLY indoor space for smoking is the casino.

Wow, I can't believe this! They have a "formal, white glove dining room". Pretty strange...

The "formal" dining room on Anthem is The Grande. It is "formal" attire if you choose to eat in there but that is your call. If you don't want to do formal, don't go to the Grande. So there isn't an actual "formal night" where everyone will dress up. Also, I have heard that some of the patrons don't even really dress according to the dress code for The Grande.

The dress code for Grande is not "formal" as most people would use that term, and in fact is a joke. Men don't need to be wearing ties or even dress shirts. They just need to have a jacket on during the walk to their table. The restaurant has loaners if someone did not bring one. Certainly no tux necessary, nor gowns. Dress as you would for a nice night out, and you'll be fine (and probably more dressy than most of the diners). So you can still prefer not to "do formal" and eat at Grande, and be in compliance with their dress code.

BTW, nothing about the food or service in Grande imho was special enough to warrant a "formal" dress code.

There are no formal nights on Anthem.

On my upcoming Bahamas cruise there are formal nights. I called to make dining reservations specifically surrounding the formal nights and the person I spoke with told me which nights they would be. There are, in fact, formal nights. Now whether or not people actually dress up is a different thing.

I strongly suspect that the person with whom you spoke mixed them up with "Royal Nights" or whatever RCI is calling them now. They were an add on to Quantum (and now Anthem) after Q launched and a number of "traditional" cruisers complained about not having formal nights. But they are NOT formal nights; there is just a suggestion to dress up in your best or whatever. A suggestion that can be (and on our cruise was) totally ignored.

Do I need to go look up "royal nights" now??? I know that the Grande dress code isn't enforced, but it seems to me that if one wants to dress up (I do!) that that restaurant would be the place to do it? Not sure that I have heard of anyone instituting a "formal night" per-say on Anthem... Off to google! lol

Don't worry about those "royal nights", they're essentially meaningless, they bury it somewhere in the compass and no one paid any attention to it on our Anthem sailing in November. Just dress how you want and dress up a bit more for the Grande if you choose to eat there.

Thanks! I won't worry about it then :) I hope to take one nice dress and my husband a tux (if he won't go for that, I'm sure he will pack his suit)... We are going the "traditional dining rotation" so we will hit the Grande twice on our cruise :)

I'm sure there is an outside area 6 or 7th deck other than near the Solarium area to smoke. totally outside, usually the deck on or below lifeboats? thanks again if you can help/

I think this may vary by ship. I was on Grandeur from Jan 6-16, 2016 and the casino was smoke-free after 18:00 on both formal nights (Days 2 and 9).
