We have sailed in two S1's and the pole was never a problem. Don't worry.

If it really bothers you, check out Reflection - there are pole-free S1 suites on the hump that began life as AquaClass Suites, a discontinued marketing name. Ideal for those who prefer to be closer to mid-ship and nearer an elevator.

I thought the same when we have had a poll. It has never been a problem for us. After a day you don`t even notice it.

Everyone should be thankful for those poles in the Sky Suites. They present a great opportunity for pole dancing right there in your cabin. Naughty thoughts accompany those pole dances but I'll never tell!!!!!!!!

I thought the pole was only in the aft corner Sky Suites. We had one but our friends that had an aft sky suit in the middle did not and other friends that had a Sky Suite amidships also did not have a pole.

Never bonked into it at night but then again...a wee bit of situational awareness is key and it is really not that dark that you cannot see it. As for the "pole dancing" well, ....some stories cannot or should not be told in public :)
