cruisingstacy Posted January 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Hello everyone!!! I'm new here, I really hope I'm not posting this in the wrong place and annoying anyone, but I do have a question. I know a related question has been asked, and people have been told that you just don't need to bring very much on Great Stirrup Cay. My husband and I are going on the Norwegian Breakaway on 2/21/16 (COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and we got a cabana for the day but are going on the Reef Snorkeling & Sandbar Party Boat in the afternoon. When we're at the cabana in the morning I wanted to bring a book, sunscreen, towel, etc. Is there somewhere to store those items when we're on the excursion? I wouldn't really want everything to get wet either. I don't think I'd want to leave them in the cabana, but I understand this is a tendered port so we won't be able to run them up to the room. I know it won't be anything hugely valuable, but I'd like to be able to bring a book to the cabana.... Should I just refrain from doing that? Any advice is appreciated!! :):):)

You will want a towel for your snorkelling excursion so you will probably want a bag of some sort for that anyways.
6rugrats Posted January 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2016 In your beach bag? That's where I would put these things. You can take a tote on your excursion if you are worried about someone stealing your book.
cruisingstacy Posted January 12, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Well it's not that I'm afraid someone will steal it, but I wouldn't want to just leave a tote bag lying around in someone's way near the excursion. I've never been on this kind of cruise before, where I'll be swimming and what not. Thank you for your input! :)

You can take a tote on your excursion if you are worried about someone stealing your book. Is there somewhere to put a tote bag while on the excursion itself, since I'll be in the water? Maybe I'll just leave the reading to the boat and focus on the drinking while on the beach lol.:D
cb at sea Posted January 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Leave it in your cabana...nothing will be bothered. No one wants a book or towel or your clothes!

I didn't mean for this to sound like such a stupid question, I just wasn't sure if it would be a hassle to go back to the cabana before getting back on the ship. Nevermind, I'm sorry about that. notentirelynormal Posted January 12, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Ok, thank you. No need to apologize. It was an honest question. Think of it this way. If you were walking by a rented cabana, would you stick you head inside and see and book and say - hey maybe I should steal that? Those clothes might fit me, I'll take those too. Look at it from another angle. Everyone is at the beach for the same reason and with the same expectations. If they go into the water do they need to wonder if someone will steal their clothes. 6rugrats Posted January 12, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2016 You are way overthinking this. Leave it in the cabana or bring it on the excursion. You can just leave it on or under the seat on the excursion. You will see this all the time.
kitty9 Posted January 12, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Bring your things with you on the party boat. You will see lots of people with lots of stuff on that boat, so you won't be the only one. As far as keeping it in the cabana, depending on the time you return from the excursion, you might not have time to get the items from the cabana, or maybe the party boat will take you right back to the ship after the excursion is finished. I've seen that happen many times.
dsrdsrdsr Posted January 13, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Take a cheap book from a second hand shop, and it won't then matter if it gets stolen. (Except you'll have to wait before you find out whodunnit!)
sail7seas Posted January 13, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 13, 2016 I agree about bringing a beach bag on your excursion. You'll see lots of people with their towels, sun lotion etc in beach bags or totes. Have fun.

#1TravelMom Posted January 13, 2016 #14 Share Posted January 13, 2016 We let everything in the cabana while we eat and walk to the other side of the island. I've let my bag with everything - camera, cards, cell phone, etc. Nothing has ever been bothered.
Bonnie J. Posted January 13, 2016 #15 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Think about getting a Kindle or tablet instead of a book. I used to take 4- 6 paperbacks on a cruise but now put books I want on my kindle. (Think of the weight in your suitcase with books!) We have a beach bag where we put towels, my kindle, husband's tablet, a thermos of water and my throwaway camera. Clothes are put on the top of the bag. You can easily take your beach bag with you on the snorkeling boat. Most people do and you don't have to keep your towel around your neck!
