Miami or FLL hotel/airport port shuttle

Hi,

Cruising out of Miami port in a few weeks. Flying in to both FLL and Miami are very comparable.

Are there any hotels that offer free shuttle to port from hotel or free shuttle from airports to hotels? Or even better yet.....both?

Thank you!

I hope your waiting until the last minute to book your flight is due to getting a great last minute deal on your cruise...because on most airlines you are past the window for advance purchase air fare deals. That would be why you are not finding flights to FLL on the budget carriers cheaper than on the legacy carriers to MIA.

So if you are cruising from PortMiami, just fly to MIA. There are hotels with free airport shuttles--mainly the ones on the lower end of the location and quality scale. Free shuttles to PortMiami are all but non-existent, but many of these same hotels can set you up with one for a fee.

But as is discussed daily on this board, taxis are cheap and plentiful in Miami and run on your schedule, not their own limited one as shared shuttles do. My best recommendation is to add about $50 for a pair of cab rides (airport to hotel and hotel to port) to your budget and stay at a hotel near the port in Downtown Miami or Brickell. Which admittedly will not be inexpensive given you are booking less than a month out. You need to start scouring the various discounter web sites for last minute deals; February is the absolute peak of demand for flights and hotels in Miami.

There are no hotels in Ft Lauderdale that have free shuttles to Port of Miami. I have not heard of any Miami hotels that have free shuttles to Port of Miami, but there might be one or two.

Agree, if prices are comparable, just fly to Miami and use taxis.

Only a few places out near the MIA airport offer free shuttles to POM - La Quinta East, Springhill Suites Medical Center and Embassy Suites MIA come to mind. All are fine if you are arriving late and just want a room and a ride to the port the next day.

If you are coming into Miami early and want to see any of either Miami or the city of Miami Beach (dinner & nightlife), then skip the airport hotels, cab to downtown (about $25+) or South Beach ($32+) and then catch another short cab to POM the next day.
