Advice on Ex linked to cruise booking

Has anyone booked a cruise since getting divorced and your ex is getting your emails on your upcoming booked cruise even though she's not booked on it? Mine is and I need help from others that may have had the same problem on how to resolve it. Here's a bit of history behind it.

My ex-wife (wife at the time) had never sailed with Carnival prior to sailing with me. I booked two cruises when I was with her and I was the primary account linked to those bookings. Of course...Carnival did have her information on file as she was a passenger.

Two years ago I booked a cruise for my GF and I on the Carnival website under my account. I made sure all my contact information was correct on my Carnival profile and that my ex's information wasn't linked to the account. I never got an email from Carnival confirming the booking I did online. My ex-wife contacted me saying she got my booking email from Carnival and asked to have her removed from my account. I called Carnival and they confirmed that her email was being shown as her email and phone number linked to the booking number for some unknown reason. They checked my Carnival account and it had my correct information and nothing associating her to my account. They said it was very weird and they didn't know how my ex's info got plugged into my booking as it's not linked to my account. They said they'd correct it. I later made a payment on the cruise. My ex then contacts me a day later and she's upset as she got my payment email I made on the cruise (I didn't get one). I contacted Carnival again...They are amazed again on how it's happening. I was then transferred to the IT department. It took about 40 minutes on the phone with IT as they had to totally delete my Carnival account and rebuild it from the ground up adding in all my cruises, info, etc. They apologized, said it was fixed, and said it should never happen again.

I booked a cruise online with Carnival last year and again...I didn't get a confirmation email, so I called. They said I should have got an email. I explained about what had happened the last time about the rebuilding of my account and why it was done. After a few minutes with the Carnival rep on the phone, she said it should be taken care of and I got an email minutes later.

I booked another cruise online last week for my GF and I. I logged on to my Carnival account and made sure all my information for my GF and I were correct before booking. I booked the cruise and I didn't get a confirmation email, so I called 5 days later thinking it was delayed. I called Carnival saying I hadn't received an email about my booking and told her about past issues. The Carnival rep asked for my booking number. She asked if my email was XXXX@XXXX.com as that's where the email was sent to that email address. That's my ex's email. She asked whos phone number was XXXX...It's my ex's. She said for some reason the primary account linked to my cruise is actually my ex wife's account even though she's not listed as going on the cruise. She then went into my Carnival account and it shows all my correct current information. She said it's very strange and shouldn't be happening and had no idea why. She then spent about 10 minutes working on removing my ex's information from my cruise. She said it should take care of on this cruise. I asked what else can be done since it keeps happening...she said if it happens again, not to call her and she laughed saying she had no clue as they've rebuilt my account already and there's no reason this should be happening.

Has anyone else had the same problem or have a possible solution on how to solve this as its frustrating for me and I'm sure my ex?

I've had the same problem and from what I've seen Carnival has two (maybe more) separate systems containing your contact info. One record links to the info you see on your booking and the second record is linked to your VFIP profile. The second one is a bit tougher to change because no matter what you do the old info seems to be stuck until you find someone at Carnival knowledgeable enough to change it. You would think they would be in sync but unfortunately Carnival isn't the only company with multiple internal databases. Me and my ex receive each others mail all the time which sucks.

You should work with your PVP to get it corrected. Log into your Carnival.com profile and look at every contact area, chances are there's a mismatch there. If not then someone at Carnival's IT team will need to investigate and correct the problem. If all else fails send an e-mail to the Carnival exec team and they'll take care of it quickly.

Good luck!

I booked a cruise for a co-worker with her information on a couples cruise. She gave me her information which is what it was booked under yet all emails have gone to her husbands email.

I actually have a similar issue, my account is fine, but my sister gifted my mother & I a cruise last year, so of course the emails went to her, I never got any of them.

Sooo, I go to book the Bermuda Pride cruise for myself and my mother and I get my email, but my mothers confirmation email (which should be my email too) goes to my sister/BIL, who calls me and thanks me for the cruise to Bermuda I just booked for them. LOL ummmm no, but I've adjusted her account 6 ways to Sunday and they get all her emails.

For 3 out of my 6 cruises I traveled with the same friend. I always booked under my account & she was the passenger in my cabin. Well when I went to book my most recent cruise which she was not part of, I logged in under my account with my VIFP# & it showed my name, her address, email & phone number. I was surprised since she has her own VIFP & account & has never been the primary on a Carnival booking. However, I overwrote her info with my own & it seemed to work because I got all of the emails. I haven't spoken to her so I cant confirm ahe didn't get any emails as well.

I've logged into my Carnival profile every single time before and even after booking and the issue arises....everything is correct. Carnival says everything on their end is correct and they have no explanation on why her information keeps popping back up after they've changed it several time. Carnival's IT Department did rebuild by whole Carnival account and profile trying to get it fixed but obviously it's not worked. Its just frustrating as every time I book a cruise...her email address and phone number are on my booking number and she's the one getting the notifications. She never booked any of the cruises and her account wasn't the primary account on the bookings. They can't explain how it does that as everything they see on their end is totally correct and all they can say is "that's odd, that's weird, or very strange." LOL

My last choice is to contact the Exec Team but not sure what they can do to rectify it if their IT Department cant.

That stinks! I know you said they rebuilt your account but did they issue a new VIPF #. Maybe they should treat you as a first time booking then add your previous cruises once you come back from your cruise. Just a suggestion, I am not computer savvy at all. If this is what they did, just ignore me :o

The Carnival exec team are very responsive and the people who work in the exec office will get the right management involved to fix the problem asap. I had a VIFP e-mail problem for 5 months and every month Carnival's IT team said they would look into it but it never got resolved. As soon as contacted the exec team they got someone on it and within 2 days it was resolved. This is when I discovered their out of sync back-end record systems.

Sadly, this problem isn't unique to Carnival.

We had a very embarassing situation when DH's family took the extended family to Disney World a few years ago. Hubby and I and our kids secretly were going down a few days early to have some private family time before 15 more relatives who CANNOT make decisions quickly show up and slow us down all day.

We specifically told NO ONE we were going early.

Disney sent our tickets with our confirmation to FIL's house. He was listed nowhere on our reservation.

FIL was then unhappy, and we were found out, and it created a ton of issues.

I was livid.

I had the same problem as well and the cause are those separate record systems. I never got this one resolved because I just ended up moving back into my old house last month :)

Hard to figure how the cruise lines work. I ALWAYS use my name when booking a cruise but after the cruises never get any promotional mail, it always comes addressed to my wife. This is with ALL the cruise lines. Go figure. No big deal like OP's problem but I always wonder why.

We are having issues also.

In 2013, my dad started cruising with us so the booking's were linked. Since then all of the mailings for us go to my dad's address and they have his number on file for our offers and they call him.

They keep saying they don't know why and they show our info but it all keeps going to my dad.

I don't get marketing emails from Carnival at all because ex husband and I took 1 carnival cruise back in 2004. At that time, I set up both VIFP profiles with my email address because he didn't even have an email account. They insist that email address belongs to him and say it is flagged as "no emails". I've tried to have them change it several times over the past 2 years, but it never changes. I took 5 carnival cruises since 2014. I'd take more cruises if they emailed me about the specials. It's pretty frustrating. I guess I should be thankful that at least the booking confirmations come to me.

I have a similar situation. My mom and I usually cruise together. She is usually the primary account holder. This time my boyfriend and I are cruising together. I am the primary account holder. For some reason, every time I get a confirmation email about something, it has my mom's name in the subject line. I have checked numerous times on the booking and all the correct information is there for me and my boyfriend. But for some reason, my mom's name keeps popping up on emails.

Oh well. Me and him have booked a cruise on Carnival together before, so I don't think there is anything to worry about

This finally confirms what I had suspected all along. A few years ago, my ex ended up on the same cruise as me and my girlfriend. She pretended it was totally coincidental. Previous to that her and I had been on 12 CCL cruises.

Lol wow. That must have been an interesting cruise for you.

Lol. Yes,it was!!!..I can laugh about it now but it was no fun then. I kept wondering, of all the cruises out of the USA. How did she manage to book the same one we were on?

Yes. She has cruised with her kids once since the divorce. I actually got her email for her cruise booking. I called Carnival to have me removed from her cruise email...they said my information wasn't on it and I shouldn't be getting her emails.

Does anyone have the email address for someone on the executive team so I'm not just submitting it through the normal chain?

I did not receive a confirmation for a cruise I booked a few months ago. I generally book through with my PVP, but she was out of the office, and I did not want to miss out on a promotion, so I spoke to someone else.

I waited for an hour for the confirmation, I called back and was told they inadvertently changed one letter in my e-mail address and sent it to the wrong address. They disclosed Carnival has several databases, one specifically for e-mail addresses, which cannot be deleted, but they can place a note on file flagging the correct one. It worked. After an hour or so, the confirmation showed up in my inbox, and I haven't had any subsequent problems.

We are brand new to Carnival, and I didn't receive confirmations for either cabin I booked a few weeks back. I actually forgot that I hadn't received them until I saw this thread. I wasn't concerned because I had logged into Carnival and could see our cabins and the deposits we had paid. The odd thing is that I did receive emails for the excursions we booked, as well as information about the Zika virus, so the email they had for me somewhere was correct.

I just called now and they (re)sent me the confirmations. No crazy story to add here, though about other family members getting our information. ;)

Have you looked for 'travel companions' on the site? My list of companions has everyone I've ever cruised with, in any combination, if we had ever linked reservations or connected the on-board charge accounts.

My current husband, ex-husband, both kids (now adults) and THEIR partners, my sister, my mom, my brother and his wife... each with their own VFIP number and email addresses are connected to my profile deep in the system somehow.

Also, the casino has it's own system that uses the same VFIP number. Possible that the two systems trade information?
