markandallan Posted January 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2016 Hi Folks, we were just about to book the window suite on the golden princess and wondered if anyone has any feedback. Its on fiesta deck below the casino and we were wondering if anyone had issues with noise etc. My partner has mobility issue (bung hip) and we thought this may be a good spot as its close to everything. We also wanted to know if people found the suite inclusions to be good value compared to a std mini suite, many thanks
gregjm Posted January 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 25, 2016 The window suites are very nice---the location is very convenient and we never noticed any noise from the casino. Definitely a great choice.
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted January 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2016 Choose a higher number stateroom. Avoid F301. Window Suites are great prices compared to a Mini-Suite (not to be confused with a suite at all).
Solara Posted January 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2016 Those are my favorite cabins. You will love it. No noise issues at all. Don't hesitate to book one they don't last long.
Colo Cruiser Posted January 25, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2016 They are in their own separate hallway which helps. (with fire doors at each end)
Rare Shelly97060 Posted January 25, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2016 Terrific cabins. Would book again in a heartbeat. :)
Greyhound3 Posted January 25, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) We had F305. Loved it and would do it again without hesitation. Grey Edited January 25, 2016 by Greyhound3
jinja0707 Posted January 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 25, 2016 Agree. F301 is right beside a door that bangs every time someone including staff uses it, unless held to close softly. Most people forget and it then bangs. It is slightly smaller as well. I stayed in the cabin next door for a b2b 31 days and sometimes heard the slamming. Have booked F311 down the other end for my November cruise, though to be away from the noisy end. The door down this end does not slam. These WS cabins are fabulous and all extra suite perks are so nice. Choose a higher number stateroom. Avoid F301. crochetcruise Posted January 25, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 25, 2016 If there are mobility issues, book F315, it's the Handicapped Accessible Window Suite. I've booked it for this November Sydney-Melbourne, a 3 night cruise. The TA was stunned, Sydney-Melbourne is usually only a 2 night cruise-I lucked out with an extra night! My apologies for forgetting to quote the previous poster-me very bad:confused:
markandallan Posted January 25, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted January 25, 2016 Thanks for your responses, I think we will keep our booking, it just looked a bit to good especially including the suite perks.
CruisingJs Posted January 25, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 25, 2016 We've had window suites on the Golden twice and the Grand once. I love the location right off the atrium. The hallway where they are located is very quiet. There is lots of storage space and the suite benefits are great. Definitely avoid F301 as it is much smaller than the others. We did hear a lot of ship noise as we headed north to Alaska, but nothing from the casino. The only thing we didn't like was the sofa - the cushions kept sliding off as we sat because the Velcro strap had worn out. But everything else about it was simply fabulous. spyro1952 Posted January 25, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 25, 2016 Take it!! Especially where a balcony is not needed, the WS are great. They don't last long because of the lower price and full suite bene's.

Hi we have placed a hold on F307, when you say ship noise what do yo mean? Is vibration, engine noise etc. did is keep you awake? Hopefully Velcro straps have been replaced. With the suite perks what does mini bar set up mean? I gather it's not free drinks. Are the perks worth the little bit extra? We were nearly going to book on the celebrity solstice in a normal veranda suite but saw these cabins on Golden at a little less money than the celebrity cruise plus leaving from closer to home (Melbourne), so we would not have pay for flights. Being 2 adults and a 7 year old we thought the WS would be more comfortable even though we will not be on the possibly glitzier Solstice and having no Balcony. What we have seen on YouTube etc the Golden looks pretty nice and we were not that impressed with the service on the RCCL explorer of the seas this Xmas New Years and Celebrity is the same company as RCCL. waltd Posted January 25, 2016 #15 Share Posted January 25, 2016 We are not much for balconies and we loved the Window Suite on the Grand. Loved the room size, loved the larger bathroom with separate shower, loved the perks that came along with the suite. The large windows gave you a great view outside and almost was as good as having a balcony. We wish all the Princess ships had a few window suites. Great price. IECalCruiser Posted January 25, 2016 #16 Share Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) The mini-bar set-up includes two bottles of beer, eight 50ml bottles of liquor, six sodas, two Perrier and two bottles of water. You can exchange liquor items for others, soda or water and soda or water for others. Depending upon the cruise length, free laundry can be very nice to have. We have really liked breakfast at Sabatini's with complementary mimosa's, specialty coffees and very good service. I believe the usually small premium over a mini suite is worth it. As you said, the central location is very convenient. We have been in F307 and F315 on the Golden and F311 on the Grand. No issues with noise from above or to the inside. Had the occasional stabilizer notice and cabin creaking with heavy seas but except for one night it wasn't an issue for us. YMMV Edited January 25, 2016 by IECalCruiser

WS is my favorite cabin, and I love my balconies. But the decor (other than the sofa) is really nice, the bathroom is the best (it's all one room instead of a separate toilet stall the way some other suites have, but sensibly laid out) and the storage is ridiculous. And the little private corridor is great. We sailed in F311 right after drydock and the sofa hadn't been touched. We'd mentioned it on all 5 cruises before then, too. The noise sounded as if somebody was banging on a pipe, but DH said that it was the ship slapping the waves and the sound carrying that way (he was in the US Navy for 23 years, so I tend to believe him). Although it was annoying, it only happened on the way up to Alaska from San Francisco. Just a part of life at sea.:)

The previous poster said there was a problem with the sofa and then mentioned noise. I was having trouble picturing a noisy sofa. :D
