Smoking in Casino on Silhoutte

Please set the record straight, is smoking allowed in the casino? I pray NOT!

Thanks

For the comfort and enjoyment of our guests, our ships are designated as non-smoking; however, we recognize that some of our guests smoke. Therefore, cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas of the ship. Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, lounge, hallway, elevator or corridor. This policy includes smoking-like products such as electronic cigarettes.

Smoking is not permitted inside any guest stateroom, nor on any guest veranda. If a guest is in violation of this policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to their SeaPass account and the guest may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. A guest must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard.

Additionally, there is a non-smoking policy on all components of the land tour portion of all Celebrity Cruises CruiseTour products. We appreciate your understanding and adherence.

NOTE: The outdoor smoking areas will be listed in the Celebrity Today (available onboard).

We spend a lot of time in the casino and the X smoking policy is what sets it apart for us.

Loved HAL, but the smoke-filled casino kept me away.

Same for me. Did a Royal Caribbean a few months back, the smoking in the casino was one of the worst issues with that cruise, though overall, Celebrity is far more service-oriented and overall a much better experience!

So glad to hear this. Just got off RCI Allure and the smoke in the nonsmoking side of the casino was awful.

That's the problem -- the smoke doesn't know that it has to stay on the smoking side of the casino.

We had the same complaint about the "non smoking" side of the casino. Unfortunately we had to walk through the casino to get to other venues. It was awful.

So glad X does not allow smoking inside the vessel. May be our new favorite line. Why RCCL does not follow the same rules. They are owned by the same company.

  • 4 weeks later...

DW and I follow a simple personal rule. We never gamble (or even enter if we can avoid it) any casino that has smoking. Since we cruise many lines that do allow some casino smoking, we figure this "rule" has saved us 10s of thousands of dollars over many years :). As to slot machine players (the worst odds in any casino) we have offered to take money from any slot payer and we will guarantee to pay back 80% at the end of the cruise :). It is the best odds slot players will get on any ship.

DW and I followed a similar rule . We would never book a balcony cabin on any cruise line which allowed smoking . This led us to Celebrity . Now the other lines , except HAL , have followed suit . Occasionally you can still smell smoke but still a great improvement .

I agree with this. We just got off Allure a week ago and we were amazed at the smoke throughout the casino. One reason we cruise Celebrity even though we are Diamond Plus on Royal Caribbean is that we really appreciate Celebrity's stricty smoking policy.

Same with us, we like Princess, but their insistence on allowing smoking in the casino, along with having a smoking lounge on their ships is ridiculous, like others have said, smoke knows no boundaries and will travel into the other parts of the ship - well done to Celebrity for adopting such a sensible policy...

How do they compare? I switch from Carnival to RCI, and I'm interested in seeing what Celebrity has to offer. I've heard entertainment was lacking, but I'm not sure what they mean by this.

This is one of the main reasons that we have switched to Celebrity from Carnival....:)

Suspect I will be flamed for this, but, we just got off Eclipse Feb. 7th cruise. The ONLY complaint we have on a WONDERFUL 2 week cruise was the strong smoke smell that permeates decks 4 and 5, including most of the shops and the casino.

This is NOT because anyone smokes indoors, they do not. It appears the smoke infiltrates as deck doors open and close.

Not sure anything could be done to prevent this.
