lindabodrum Posted January 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2016 We arrive in Barcelona airport at 1000 and have transfers to the ship. We sail away at 1800. It is the only chance we have to see a bit of the city. Is it possible to get a taxi after checking in onboard and doing a bit of sightseeing. I guess by the time we get our baggage and arrive at the ship, it will be about 1200. Or how can we get to a hop on hop off bus from the port

You won't get to see that much and the HoHo can take some time waiting for the next bus. You might just walk to Las Ramblas and stroll down looking at the sites, then around to view the Cathedral. If you don't want to walk, take a taxi. If your flight arrives at 1000 you probably won't be at the ship until 1100 and you don't want to push the drop dead time. You can tailor the sightseeing to what you want, getting ideas from the company when you book the tour. They should have plenty of time for a four hour tour. Noon-4pm would give them plenty of time, as would 1-5pm if it takes a long time at airport, which it shouldn't. MADflyer Posted January 31, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2016 You will have many possibilities. One option would be to get a round trip ticket on the port bus for 3.50 per passenger or take a taxi for about 12 euro each way to the World Trade Center. You could take this taxi even further with this option if you wanted. For the port bus you would walk back to the World Trade Center stop of the hop on hop off lines. There are competing tour providers with offers there. You walk back to the World trade center that you would have just passed prior to the stop. It is about 5 minutes walk back toward the ships. If you choose City Sightseeing you could do their entire Red line, but get off a couple of times. You could get off at Plaza Catalunya or the Bari Gothic and move around the upper ramblas or up to the Segrada Familla by taxi or walking. Then re-join the Red Line eventually getting off back at the World Trade Center stop. The entire Red line is seen as 2 hours, so you would have 2 hours to stop along the way, if not more. http://www.city-sightseeing.com/tours/spain/barcelona.htm

KirkNC Posted February 5, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 5, 2016 One thing to consider is if you are coming from the US, you will be beat. We have learned to not schedule any activities on arrival days.
