Bluemoon319 Posted January 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2016 Journey cruises have both formal nights and a formal night. Can someone please tell me what the difference is? I'm thinking that formal night would be dress code as it used to be and elegant nights are like they are currently, but that is just my guess. RaiderFaninNM Posted January 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2016 The Menu.......................:D Formal night was just that, dressier clothes, well for some, Elegant night saw more Tuxedos and the like, other then that nothing really different...... coevan Posted January 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2016 thought they did away with formal night. I can tell you first hand, on the Dream last week, more then 70% of the men were not wearing jackets or ties. One guy was asked to put on long pants after several guests complained about his shorts and t shirt attire.

Obviously, this person should have been dressing by the rules, but I just hate it when some people who are un-happy with their lives want to run to teacher and make others as miserable as they are. This is no ones business but the carnival staff what someone wears. If they don't enforce their rules, so be it, its not for other passengers to start yelling that their lobster does not taste good because they saw someone in shorts in the MDR
Rare crewsweeper Posted January 28, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 28, 2016 On the Journeys cruises, they have 2 elegant nights and 1 formal night. So what was the difference in the 3 nights? Attire recommendations? or if menu, entrée/dessert variations versus new "traditional" Elegant night 7-day menu?
RaiderFaninNM Posted January 28, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2016 Hmm.... it looks like I'm not the only one who isn't clear about this. Which had the better menu? Which ever is the two, I believe it is the Elegant night as they served lobster both nights..............:D As far as dressing, I personally could care less as it is not going to affect my food what so ever, I did not take a suit this time and do not regret it, just my suit pants, and dress shirts, no tie for what it is worth.....:p
astroboy99 Posted January 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 28, 2016 Formal Night is part of the 80's throw-back theme that is currently on the Carnival Journey cruises (Tuxedos for men and gowns for the ladies). They of course will not me required.
