jono mono Posted February 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2016 For anybody who wants to know !! just off Reflection and i got my obc ( given to me by celebrity) out using the casino 5% route. The refundable obc (bought by me) was a bit more difficult, the "customer service people" on three seperate occastions told me three different stories, even told me to get it from casino (minus 5% for my own money !!). I know that celebrity site is a complete mess but i did'nt expect to have problems with the customer service team. The reports on C/c re NOT getting non refundable obc did'nt happen to me !!!:)
njkruzer Posted February 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2016 We had both types of obcs on our recent Infinity cruise. The obcn was used first and the obc from our TA that we didn't use was refunded to our credit card. It posted on disembarkation day. No problems. cb at sea Posted February 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2016 Usually, refundable is used first...that's more profitable for the cruise line!
Rare MicCanberra Posted February 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2016 There seems to be differing policies on OBC on different ships. Recently on the Solstice, there was no cashing out, unless you paid 5% in the casino, previously on the ship, there was cashing out at Guest services as well. Heard on the Connie, there is no cashing out at all.
gimletgal Posted February 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 8, 2016 (edited) Usually, refundable is used first...that's more profitable for the cruise line! Sorry, but NON refundable OBC is used first. On all Celebrity ships. Any refundable OBC not used will be refunded to your credit card used for your on board account. kands6191 Posted February 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2016 We have OBC from our TA as well as Celebrity. Over $800! We are waiting to get on the ship (Reflection ) to upgrade our drink package and book 1 or 2 specialty restaurants. With the left over, we may book a shore excursion. Anything after that we plan to use in the casino. Can anyone tell me how this will play out? If I want to use the money in the casino, will I have to pay a 5% fee? Does it depend on which kind of OBC credit I am cashing in at the casino to play with? Can I request which kind of OBC they use when I pay for these things if it makes a difference? Sent from my SM-T310 using Tapatalk If you want cash it will cost you the 5% in the casino (if the ship allows it) otherwise you actually buy Casino credit and use that, any winnings can be cashed out at no cost. They will also have packages in the casino where if you buy a certain amount for the Casino, they will add extra dollars. I wish you good luck:D

Rare MicCanberra Posted February 8, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 8, 2016 Are the amounts of both types of obc posted in your account on tv when you board/ I cannot remember what was on the Tele (it had the OBC but I don't think it had the type), however, it certainly was on the statement I had printed out.:D
az_tchr Posted February 8, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 8, 2016 To see OBC-N and OBC-R you actually had to go to Customer Service. Am a bit confused by the OP comment that OBC-R was not ever easily and automatically put back on your credit card. As most said OBC-N is always used first. Can someone from Canada say if purchased OBC is posted differently somehow? I know unspent purchased OBC was refunded in the past.

That is nice, I hope it is still like that in April. On another thread, someone posted the that they have stopped that now, and that they have put up signs saying you can only buy Casino chips/credit.
