CruisingMom-2016 Posted February 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2016 How is Labadee with kids? We loved Disney's Castaway Cay. Choosing between an Eastern Itinerary (Allure) and Western (Freedom). Is it worth choosing Freedom just to get to Labadee?

Is it worth choosing Freedom just to get to Labadee? Labadee is basically just a day at the beach.
cb at sea Posted February 13, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2016 (edited) While not as beautiful of a beach as Castaway Cay, it's basically the same premise...a beach day! Labadee has built a zip-line, roller coaster and cabanas (for a hefty price!)...along with the regular beachy things. We enjoy the private beach days...but if you'd rather go Eastern...just do it! Rare Lionesss Posted February 13, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2016 We usually plan our cruises around going to Labadee. This year we are doing the Eastern on Allure with a stop in Labadee. We will be doing the jetskis as well as the zip line. Being only able to travel on 1-2 big vacations a year we like to take advantage of the fun activities. Right now it is 6 below an snowing, I will really be looking forward to the hot summer times on the beach as well as in the water. Enjoy Labadee, we do. Safe travels. MommaBear55 Posted February 13, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2016 I think Labadee is a perfect place for kids with the sloping beaches, the water toys, the possibility of doing the Dragon Coaster. It is one of my favorite places. You might want to have water shoes, as the ocean side is rocky underfoot. The better side is the cove side. There are locals doing shows, there is hair braiding. What I would warn them about is there are bathroom attendants looking for tips. No stranger danger! I was just creeped out because I wasn't expecting a lurker in the bathroom. The place they could get into trouble is the shopping area. The vendors are aggressive, asking names, quickly putting the names on jewelry and then putting them on you, then expecting payment. I just avoid that area totally.
cincicruisers Posted February 13, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2016 We love Labadee! Great beach day with bbq lunch. Your drink package covers drinks on the island. You can do as little or as much as you like. They have some activities if your interested like the coaster, zip line, jet skis, ect.
CruisingMom-2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted February 14, 2016 So ... I guess the better question is should we do Freedom to get to do Labadee or an Eastern to go on Allure?
mrpayroll Posted February 20, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 20, 2016 So ... I guess the better question is should we do Freedom to get to do Labadee or an Eastern to go on Allure? If you haven't been on Allure ( or Oasis )......Go with Allure. Kids will have a blast just on the ship. :)
leighuf Posted February 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 28, 2016 We had 9 kids in our group, all under the age of 10. Everyone had fun. It was just a beach day... we had packed a football which got a lot of use. Only additional activity that a handful did was the aqua park. It was a bit pricey for 1 hour, but hey, we were on vacation.
