fam2cruise Posted February 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2016 My husband switched from smoking to vaping about a year ago, wondering if there will be any issue with him bring on his vape supplies including the liquid he puts in it (sorry, I don't know all the correct vape terms). We know that he can only use it in the same places smoking is allowed, I'm more worried about him getting everything onboard. Any info on this topic appreciated! T2C Posted February 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Can't say as my wife does the vape stuff also but we buy the disposable ones to take for her to use, just is easier then her worrying about charging all the time

cuyahoga11 Posted February 14, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Not a problem at all bringing everything you need. I have done so on my last four or five cruises. No questions asked.
cruising maniac Posted February 14, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 14, 2016 I have carried on batteries, juice, atomizers, chargers..... Everything we need with absolutely no problem. Last year on the Breeze, the year before on the Reflection, the year before on the Dream, the year before...... No problem at all in the carry on and I don't believe that you would have an issue on the checked luggage, either. Have fun and vape on.:D Congratulations on not smoking anymore to your husband. His heart and lungs are much happier and healthier.

fam2cruise Posted February 14, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted February 14, 2016 I haven't researched enough to know if his lungs and heart are healthier but I sure don't miss the smell of cigarettes!! He's a big boy and can make his own, hopefully informed, health decisions. Thanks for all the feedback though, so glad he won't have issues bringing all his supplies!! cb at sea Posted February 14, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) You may bring on all the stuff he needs. If you're used to a certain e-liquid, you won't find the same thing elsewhere...so bring enough for the trip! And, while vaping may not be "healthy", it's certainly better than cigarettes! klwigg59 Posted February 14, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 14, 2016 I have had no issues carrying my "supplies" on board, neither did I have an issue flying to Seattle with it all to go on my Alaska cruise.
cruising maniac Posted February 14, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 14, 2016 I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist and an Cardiovascular Sonographer and my DH is a doctor. I have vaped for almost 6 years, no nicotine. Yes, it is a MUCH better choice. What you read on Yahoo home page is not the truth. I'm glad the OP was able to get the info they needed for their trip. As others have said, pack them in the carry-on. The ships do not sell vape items, and it's pretty unlikely that he'll find any vape shops on the islands. So it's best to bring extras, like an extra battery, coils, e-juice, etc. By the way, I've also been tobacco free for a little over a year. I made the switch in Dec. 2014. Happy to say I don't miss cigarettes at all.:)

That Yahoo page (and a few others) are using these scare stories to get the reads. I understand there's controversary over the longterm effects, but this stuff is over the top and people are actually believing in. I've been bringing my vape supplies on cruises since 2010 even a couple flights. OP just be aware there's only the one outlet, so you may want to bring something to accomodate your charging and still free up that outlet. I had a belkin strip that plugged in. It had 2 usb ports and 2 spots to plug in other things.

Happy to say I don't miss cigarettes at all.:) Congrats to you! I tried it when I, 1st heard of it. Maybe better now? Mine did not taste like a cigarette in any way. Felt like I was going to burst a blood vessel in my brain, just trying to suck enough of it down, to TRY to make it taste like a cigarette. Saw someone lately, puffing away, and asked about it. She said, she likes the strawberry best. WHAT? Not anything I would be interested in. I surely don't remember Marlboro having a strawberry flavor.. Just curious.:) My husband quit "cold turkey" about 10 years ago. Bam zoom, he's done.

I like the coffee and chocolate flavored e-liquids. It's been difficult to find chocolate flavored liquids locally. I could order them on line, but I prefer to support local businesses. My DW, a non-smoker, likes the scent from the chocolate flavored ones. It's definitely 100% better than stinky cigarette smells.;)
Drose716 Posted February 15, 2016 #18 Share Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) I did it last month with no problems. I flew down to FL from NY & emptied my tank & took out the batrery before the flight. I packed the set up in its original box just in case. I brought the box & my 30mL bottle of e-liquid in my carry-on. TSA didn't give a second look. For the cruise I brought everything in my carry on so I could use it without waiting for checked luggage. I had refilled the tank & reassembled everything at the hotel so I took it on board all set up with no issues. I used it in designated smoking areas only & was in good company so you'll be fine! Are you using pre-loaded cartridges that you attach to a cigalike battery, or are you using a refillable tank that screws into a battery (aka a "mod")? If you're using a refillable tank, go to different vape shops in your area and taste test different flavors to find what you like. I, too, started out with tobacco flavors, but quickly found other flavors the I liked much better. Edited February 15, 2016 by beachbum53

I never went for the taste of nicotine, but rather for the "activity" of smoking and the old hand to mouth thing. I personally failed at switching, guess I should try again. jackig218 Posted February 15, 2016 #22 Share Posted February 15, 2016 I have had no problem the last 3 cruises bring on my stuff. Like other people have said... Bring a power strip because his rotation of batteries will have the only available plug used. On a side note.... Before you fly... Dump the tank, the cabin pressure makes the juice leak everywhere....

I've never emptied mine before flying, and haven't had any problems with it leaking.

danacline Posted February 15, 2016 #25 Share Posted February 15, 2016 On the Magic last month, there were only a few other vapers, and surprisingly few smokers (well, except for the casino). One guy asked me if I knew where he could get juice, but I had no answer (and only enough juice for the week myself). Fortunately, I get by several weeks with one bottle. On our Med cruise in 2014, there were a lot of vapers (with those Huge batteries), and they all had odd expressions, making me wonder what kind of juice they had.
