Yep the Jade. She is beautiful with the Hawaiian decor. It will probably always be a ship I haven't sailed. (Except for the epic and only bc Sakari hasn't been on it) Now I only have the Gem left to cross off of the older ships. The the POA maybe some day and the Escape. I won't sail the escape at the prices I have been seeing...unless it comes down or I get a great off season rate.

 

I will be on later to answer a few questions. I'm on my phone and trying to type on it with my big fingers and old eyes makes me worthless. So sorry if there are any mistakes. I type about 89 wpm on a computer...about 10 on a phone. Lol

 

Weather is BEAUTIFUL so far! Off to get a drink and have some fun!

Happy Birthday! I have been a "lurker" for some time, dreaming of the day I would be able to go on my 2nd cruise. LOL I know, I have a lot of catching up to do. Well, I think it will happen December 2016 (come on tax refund) on the Escape, to celebrate my 50th birthday and my best friend of 30 years, 60th birthday! I have enjoyed reading all of your reviews with awesome pictures and helpful information. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of each cruise. I feel like I know your family, just a little, through your reviews. Sakari is adorable. I can't wait to hear all about your surprise birthday cruise. Enjoy!

Since this is a current thread, and I havent found a way to private message other forum members, Im going to ask this here.

 

Mitsugirly, I have read pages and pages of your reviews. They are amazingly detailed, thanks for all the time you put in them. Somewhere, in my hours of pouring over them, I have read others ask what waterproof camera you use. I remember reading you have two and liked one more than the other, and I think they are both olympus. But I cant find it again and am shopping for one.

Could you remind me of your answer or point me to the right away to find your comments?

 

Yes, they are both Olympus Tough cameras. I have the 620 and 830. Love them both. The 830 is a little bigger in size, but has a few more settings than the 620. The 2 I can think of off the top of my head is 2 underwater settings: I think it's a macro and a wide angle underwater setting.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I'm so happy to be able to spend my birthday doing what I love to do the most...cruise!

 

The ship has been wonderful. The service is wonderful. My room steward sucks! I personally think he is lazy! More details on that when I do my review, but it's the only bad thing I have encountered so far. :D

 

Just a funny FYI...we bought the internet package (unlimited) and have to say that I find it hilarious that EVERY time I try to get on Cruise Critic, it will log me off and it takes 2 tries to get on here. Any other sites are find and no issues. :p

 

Sakari spent a portion of the day doing homework in the café by the windows watching the ocean here and there. What a way to enjoy doing your homework. I think they really doubled up on her with assignments this time. :eek:

 

On the other hand, I haven't got to work on my assignments for the week. I tried to look up things for the 4 papers I have to do this week and put them on a memory stick so hopefully it will go a lot quicker once I start to work on it. I just have to find the time and effort to do it. :D It's not easy being in school and being slammed with short 5 week classes during a cruise. So much is due. But...well worth it I guess. I did manage to get all of my assignments done for my other class (I'm currently taking 2 at the moment) and submitted prior to leaving. So, at least I don't have that to worry about. Whew!

 

 

To answer the question about the service on the ship and having the UBP (at least I think that was on this thread), we haven't had a long wait AT ALL at any of the bars...including by the pool or the casino. It has been running smooth on this ship. (We have had an issue on another ship, but not this one).

 

Ok, off to pick up the munchkin, head to Blue Lagoon, then to the room to pack for our big day in Cozumel tomorrow. (If you guys think for one moment that the hubby could plan any of our port days....LOLOLOLOL...yea, I'm still in charge of that! He wouldn't have a clue! This is where all the years of research I have done about each port kicks in. Usually when I'm researching a place to go, I have several places I'm looking at. So, any of those places are fair game this time around.) :p

I'll be on the Jade this Saturday! We'll be two ships passing in the night or gangway? I can't wait to start my vacation when we leave this Friday. We always try to get to our destination the day before. Have an awesome time!!!!

Congrats again, and enjoy a very well deserved surprise!!... looking forward to reading the Jade review and seeing the pics of the trip... we are doing the exact same itinerary as yours, but on the Getaway on May 1... so looking forward to read all about the ports too!!
