Stefanosthecruiselover Posted February 23, 2016 #76 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Does anyone know if the carnival fantasy made it to Miami and when? Any updates today? Also, does anyone know what the compensation will be for the past weekend detour from Nassau to Freeport? I was on that cruise and very disappointed in the experience as a gold member. The ship just started leaving Miami. http://www.portmiamiwebcam.com
Firefighterhoop Posted February 23, 2016 #77 Share Posted February 23, 2016 They only turn them on when they are planning to move, as they are meant to show ship under way. However, I will agree with what someone said earlier - the ship looks really dark on the webcam (even when its zoomed in). Funnel isn't lit as normal, and pool deck looks really dark. Can someone on board confirm if it's just the camera or are some of the lights off?

Did they say anything else than just a propulsion issue?

Firefighterhoop Posted February 23, 2016 #80 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Thanks for the update! From the camera angle it looks like there are no lights on on the pool deck at all. Have a great rest of your trip!!!

Jeepenfun Posted February 23, 2016 #83 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Just looked on marine traffic.com and Fantasy is moving along at 15 kn just out side Free port. not bad for a ship with issues getting up to cruising speed.
poz222 Posted February 23, 2016 #84 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Yes, cruising up the Gulfstream will do that... we were cranking at 9 knots under sail the other day heading north... had to power sail south close to the coast to make it back! ATL_Miami_Cruiser Posted February 23, 2016 #85 Share Posted February 23, 2016 The only reason they are going to Freeport is the Mechanic forgot to put the muffler bearings back in That's what frustrates me the most about this situation. Carnival knows damn well they're going back to Freeport so that the contractors can finish looking into the problem. Which is a good thing to do to ensure the ship is fixed and fully operational. I just wish they would come out and be totally transparent about it.
SP4 Posted February 23, 2016 #86 Share Posted February 23, 2016 We are booked on Fantasy for next Monday going to Cozumel and Key West... any best guesses on whether this will all be resolved before then? Thanks everyone
Havingfun2010 Posted February 23, 2016 #87 Share Posted February 23, 2016 After reading all the posts, I think I get it. Carnival was in dry dock, but had shoddy work done. So, they need to go back to have it fixed. So instead of going back to dry dock to get fixed (will loose revenue), they instead keep all the passengers booked on the ship, and sail her to the dry dock, instead of providing the vacation that was picked out and paid for. The right thing to do, is give everyone a free cruise (not the taxes etc, just the cruise) and get new contractors the next time.
bobsfamily Posted February 23, 2016 #88 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Sure glad I am not on her, again don't take the first (or it looks like the second) cruise after a dry dock! Fantasy was great during her time in Charleston, the Ecstasy has replaced her and did/is doing a wonderful job! So glad we did the Ecstasy a couple of weeks ago and not the Fantasy this week.... TaDaaa! Posted February 23, 2016 #90 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Cruiserfanatic, Sounds like you are defending Carnival. Stuff happens, but this was very poorly handled from customer service perspective. Passengers have not been compensated for the downgraded itinerary or their additional expenses. Passengers do not have to be compensated for a change in itinerary.
TaDaaa! Posted February 23, 2016 #91 Share Posted February 23, 2016 New paint, new carpet. Guys burgers and blue iguana. Ship looks great! The Fantasy got a Guy's and Blue Iguana? Awesome!! :)

lnew1gd1 Posted February 24, 2016 #96 Share Posted February 24, 2016 Ok so we are back in Freeport docked. Ship tried to leave port (1 1/2 hrs late) but had to turn back. Still sitting here at almost 10pm. Original departure time was 5 pm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Firefighterhoop Posted February 24, 2016 #97 Share Posted February 24, 2016 What time were you supposed to make Nassau tomorrow? or Sea tomorrow and Nassau Thursday? It is hard to speculate about future cruises without knowing exactly what the problem is. Sadly this is a wait and see thing from Carnival (who may not know the extent of the problem yet either).
