Palmetto Lady Posted February 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Does Regent still have Block Parties the first night at sea?
Kwaj girl Posted February 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Though scheduling may vary from one voyage to the next. We are on the third leg of our South America Grand Voyage. Voyage started yesterday in Buenos Aires but the block party will not be until the 23rd after we leave Montevideo. Depends on times the ship is in port, how late excursions may run, etc. But yea, this will be our 3rd for this trip. Cheers!
Travelcat2 Posted February 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2016 Scheduling is all over the place in terms of the "Block Party". I don't recall it being the first night in a very long time. Muster is the priority for the first night -- generally right before the sailaway. Last year a Block Party was held at 11:00 a.m. - quite unusual but it was a sea "morning" so everyone was on board. When it is held is probably dependent upon itinerary.
mikey47 Posted February 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Being new to Regent - what is a Block Party please?
UUNetBill Posted February 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Block parties are just a way to meet and greet your neighbors and much of the staff - they'll announce a time for everyone to meet out in the passageways with a wine glass in hand, and the crew roams the hallways with wine and snacks while the captain, CD, and other senior staff make a valiant effort to cover every deck and meet every passenger, however briefly, to say hello. While awaiting the arrival of the crew posse, it's a great way to meet your immediate neighbors, and maybe even butlers or room stewards from previous voyages. Informal, low-key, and quite fun, IMO. mikey47 Posted February 23, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Thank you. This will be the first time we will experience anything like this. Should be interesting:)
Mudhen Posted February 23, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2016 The block parties are one of the things that endear me to Regent. Who ever thought up that one is nothing short of brilliant! So smart, so simple, so charming, so much fun!!!
Rare Gilly Posted February 23, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Mudhen, I agree 100%. Something not to be missed.
Palmetto Lady Posted February 23, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted February 23, 2016 I wasn't sure exactly when it was held because on our one and only previous Regent cruise, we did not join the cruise until the cruise was about half over. Since this was a second segment, very few of our neighbors joined the party which was disappointing for us.
