Riley's Mom Posted February 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2016 My daughter will be bringing on a bottle of wine (for our next cruise). Can she carry on a wine screw/cork remover? Or does she HAVE to pay for the cork fee in the dining room? She wants to drink the wine in our cabin not at dinner. Thank you all for your help. riffatsea Posted February 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2016 There is no need to pay any fees! Yes, she can bring on a corkscrew. Not sure why you'd think it wasn't allowed? We are allowed to bring wine on board and drink it on the ship. You do not only have to drink in your cabin. You can carry a glass of wine to dinner if you like. You can get glasses from your cabin steward or from a bar on board.
ShakyBeef Posted February 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Yes, you are allowed to bring the corkscrew onboard (pack it in your carry-on, with your wine). The corkage fee is only for bottles taken into the MDR or restaurants. You can also request a corkscrew from your Room Steward, or order one from Room Service, if you don't want to bring your own.:)
Rare crewsweeper Posted February 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2016 She can also bring a screw top wine on board. Some very good screw tops out there. And then she doesn't have to worry about trying to stick the cork back in if there's wine left in the bottle.
kbh2 Posted February 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Just don't pack it in your carry on if you are flying as they will take it at security, put it in your checked baggage.
jamesr3939 Posted February 24, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2016 I have one I carry on all the time and TSA never has an issue with it.
pcvtmom Posted February 24, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 24, 2016 I have one I carry on all the time and TSA never has an issue with it. I, on the other hand, have had one confiscated by TSA. Just forgot it was in my carry-on! Our room steward provided a Carnival logo one for us, at no charge. He got a nice tip!

One less thing to pack.
Riley's Mom Posted February 24, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted February 24, 2016 Thank you so much for the replies. I don't drink wine so have no knowledge about bringing the corkscrew. I thought since they charge a cork fee that meant you couldn't bring your own corkscrew.. Hahahaha Silly me. Thanks again :)
