How bad is smoking in nightclub and casino on Dream?

Don't want to start a thread about smoking vs. non-smoking here, but just read Carnival's smoking policy and would like to know how bad the smoke usually is in the nightclub and in the casino.

Do we need to walk throught the casino to get to other places on the ship?

I'm very sensitive to cigarette smoke.

Thanks

Can't speak about the nightclub, but it's pretty bad in the casino. Seems a lot of people go there just to smoke indoors. If you are going to the shops or the Lanai you will have to pass through the casino...

I didn't really notice it. Of course it will depend on the amount of smokers on the cruise. Over all, it was fairly smoke free, even in the casino. As for the nightclubs, I can't really remember anyone smoking.

I don't believe smoking is allowed in the night club. There is smoking in the casino. Some cruises I have been on the smoking was bad, other times not so much.

Yes, smoking is allowed in nightclub. We hung out there one afternoon before it opened and a staff member came around and put an ashtray on every table in the club.

Saw one person smoking but assumed many people also thought they couldnt smoke in there as it wasnt too bad the one late night we had there.

Casino is pretty bad, if you're sensitive to it I'd recommend bypassing on the floor above etc.

The casinos are really bad. Smoking is allowed on most of the machines and unfortunately the smoke doesn't know to stay away from the non-smoking machines.

In addition, the bar in the casino is a smoking area and it is crowded with smokers. Even those who can't belly up to the bar, are lined up several deep to smoke away.

I keep hoping that Carnival will do something about the ventilation system. On Liberty the casino was also where a combo played and people were dancing. It was so hard to enjoy the music because of the smoke.

On Dream class ships the smoke goes down the hallway to where the music is played as well. I know smokers need some area to smoke, and I blame Carnival for the poor ventilation. To have the smoking concentrated in the casino where we had to walk through to get places pretty much all the time, seems that with the number of complaints that Carnival would make some improvements. JMO.

I am very sensitive also and this was my largest complaint about the Dream. The Sports Bar is in the casino and is smoking. Therefore if you wanted to watch anything on ESPN the only place to view it was there. There is a deck outside on this level where you can bypass the casino but at night those doors are often locked - except the one for the smokers to step outside to smoke. They had a "non-smoking" section but that was merely the final 3 or 4 seats at the bar. Many people at the bar were only there to smoke and weren't even watching the games on tv.

we experienced this on the last cruise. my daughter was 2 and loved to dance in front of the band...and they would really jazz it up when she came around. unfortunately, it was steps from the casino so i had to stand there and let her do her thing and deal with the smoke, that she also inhaled. they ought to put the live band outside and pump music into the casino.

It is the only place where u can smoke indoors if I recall. So of course if a non smoker passes through u are going to be able to smell it. I smoke but rarely do I have a option to smoke inside. I can smell smoke when in the casino. But it does have pretty good ventilating. Like I said I smoke so it might be a bias opinion. I do not smoke in my Car Home or inside at work. Even a smoker can smell smoke if not used to it inside. It was way better than when I went to a bar in Memphis. But again this is a smokers opinion.:)

Dream casino is terrible. Carnival tries to say they have smoke free areas but they are right next to each other.

You could be play a smoke free machine and the one right beside you is smoking.

Carnivals non smoking policy is a joke because no one in the casino will enforce it. I was told they don't want to offend another guest.

Exactly. And smokers congregate at the end of the casino bar, which is right next to non-smoking machines on some ships.

On the Victory last month they had pretty much most of the non-smoking machines on one side of the tables and smoking on the other side. It was the best (and most logical) smoking/non-smoking layout I've seen on Carnival, much better than the random banks of non-smoking machines surrounded by smoking machines on most Carnival ships.

You can watch ESPN smoke free on deck 10 at the bar by the deli. Their explanation on why it is not in the rooms, makes no sense. They obviously have the satellite feed. Might have been my only complaint on the Dream that the sports bar WAS the smoking area.
