Mykonos Beach

We plan to do Mykonos on our own. We'd like to walk around the town and have some time on the beach. We'll be there the first week of September. Can you recommend a beach? Should we take a taxi and ask the person to come back and pick us up?

Any advice is appreciated!

There are quite a few beaches and the ultimate decision should depend on whether you prefer a quiet near desserted strip of sand, or a pretty well developed beach with facilities, When it comes to the latter we really enjoy spending a day at Paradise Beach where there are eating and rest room facilities (and even a pool) as well as chair/umbrella rentals. You can get there cheaply by just taking the local bus (from the bus station located near the windmills in town) or a taxi. If you go to Paradise, find its too developed or crowded for your taste, and have the time....you can take a water taxi from Paradise Beach to Super Paradise Beach which is still developed but slightly more laid back.

We were three couples in Mykonos and lunch time weren't all that hungry. We stopped in a nice restaurant and asked if they would make us Greek Salads and sandwiches/cold drinks to go and they were fine about doing that. We ate on the sea wall on one of the most beautiful days ever and never enjoyed a sandwich and salad so much. :) It was glorious.

That is pretty much what we did, and this shows Paradise beach (mentioned by Hank). We went by bus, approx €2 each way. All the best, Tony

Celebrity offer transfer for Elia Beach. Some informations about this place? beach?

A bit rocky for my taste but still a nice beach. Personally, if a cruise line has an excursion going to a beach.....we run (not walk) to a different beach :). Elia is well developed (good or bad depending on your point of view) and can be very crowded (like several other beaches) on a busy summer day.

Elia Beach is the longest beach in Mykonos. Its beautiful but could get very crowded, especially if the Cruise Ships are in town. However, it does have all the facilities including some nice restaurants. You can always walk over the rocks (on the right side) to Agrari Beach which is not as commercial.

  • 4 weeks later...

I've been researching several options for beaches on Mykonos. I'm seeing a lot of statements to the fact that there are alot of nudist party beaches, loud music, and such. Is that accurrate or exaggerated? I'm looking for a nice family friendly beach with chair and umbrella rentals, bathroom facilities and restaurants. Thanks for your feedback.
