Hi! I had already booked my 2016 vacation- my 5 year old son and I are doing Disney World and a 7 night Western Caribbean Disney Cruise. Well, I just won a 7 night Carnival cruise-so using this to take a friend. Planning on doing the eastern caribbean out of port everglades June 18th. Has anyone recently cruised on the Conquest? I have not been on Carnival before..and was hoping for a newer ship, but nothing else fits with my travel dates. Thanks!

Congratulations on winning a free cruise!! I also sailed her a few weeks ago and had a great cruise. Older ship but clean, great crew, delicious food and fun times.

I did the western itin and here is the link to my review if you haven't already read it.

Haven't been on Disney, but I realize it might not compare to that, but it is FREE and after spending time at Disney before the cruise, your son might enjoy the change of character theme. Adorable Dr. Seuss with a parade and Green Eggs breakfast offered. The towel animal theater puppet show was cute also.

Go and enjoy!

Conquest is the oldest in her class (named Conquest class, naturally-- also includes Glory, Freedom, and Liberty) but is maintained very well. It has the new bells and whistles like Guy's, Redfrog, Blue Iguana... But oddly, no Serenity.

Could never get seats in Serenity anyway so no bother for us.

I liked it enough that we are doing it again this August!

You left off Valor - there are 5 Conquest class ships, and I've sailed the 5 of them 14 times.

It's free. No ship is THAT bad if it's free. But Conquest is very adequate. You and your friend will have a great time.

Still have to pay taxes and port fees, flight, time off work, spending money, excursions etc. so not completely "free".. Like I said, my son and I are doing a 7 night Disney cruise and 4 nights at Disney Polynesian resort at Disney World.. That was the focus of my vacation budget this year...lol. But yes, I still think I'll have fun on this!

Thanks everyone! I am excited, just a lot to deal with when already planning a Disney vacay (I'm a complete nutcase when it comes to planning Disney lol). I should clarify- the cruise was given to me as a comp from the casino I play at.. So basically they're reimbursing me a little for money spent there ;). But unfortunately for Carnival, I have no intention of gambling while on board.lol

I have been on Conquest 2x, once before 2.0 upgrades and once after. I much preferred the second one. The 2.0 upgrades add some upgraded eating establishments and bars, and added to the experience. Guys burger was a favorite for us, especially since a lot of time we would get back from an excursion or whatever and the lunch buffet. We would go to Guys and get a wonderful burger that really hit the spot. I thought the ship was well maintained. Of course that was in 2013, right after dry dock, so I am not sure what it is like now.

I was on an 8 day Eastern Caribbean Conquest cruise in November. This is a very nice ship. It is very clean with a very good crew and the food was very good. It has the 2.0 upgrades. Some of those upgrades are the the Blue Iguana Bar, the Red Frog Pub, the Alchemy Bar, the Blue Iguana Cantina and Guy's Burgers. All of these are nice adds to the Carnival Ships. The steakhouse is very good. I enjoyed the shows in the main lounge and the entertainment in the Casino, and the Atrium was very good. The comedy club was fun for night time entertainment. I had a great time and I would definitely cruise again on Conquest.

disneygirl, you will have a great time!! A cruise with friends to Caribbean islands and it's free?! It will be a wonderful time.

Deck 10, plenty of lounge chairs - both in the sun and in the shade - then you can go right in the door and be on the upper deck of the Lido buffet, to refill your iced tea glass...lol Down a flight of stairs and you can go into the adult-only pool and hot tubs.

The Conquest is a great ship and you can't go wrong with a free cruise! Enjoy.

Disneygirl10, if your free promotion is anything like Carnival's casino promotions, you might want to check out the casino activities anyway. A Carnival casino cruise has drawings and giveaways at posted times, and if you're eligible, you just have to be present in the casino at the time of the drawing to win.

When I go on a comped Carnival casino cruise, I usually get freebies in my cabin all week, and there'll be a letter explaining all the times and activities going on.

Enjoy and good luck!

  • 2 weeks later...

We sailed on the Conquest for the 3rd time last month.

The food we tried was fine.

The service was good.

I am not a fan of the 2.0 (Hasbro) but a family would probably like that.

Entertainment was a bit lacking but nothing that would ruin a cruise.
