greykangaroo Posted March 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) Whilst on the voyage from New York to Singapore my wife and I marvelled at the incredible holographic panorama in the 270 theatre at the stern. These panoramas are projected onto the curtains in front of the stern windows. Of special enjoyment was the 'Santa Fe Fat City Horns' holographic production. It was so like being there in a live theatre that many people forgot themselves after each number and clapped. One thing that mystifies me though is why the theatre is called 270 and not 180, as it is situated in the stern and if it was 270 it would be on the port side midships. Maybe someone can shed some light on this? Edited March 30, 2016 by greykangaroo
cobman Posted March 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2016 It's a 270 degree panorama!
MattInFLL Posted March 30, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2016 I think the name has to do with the field of view being 270 degrees. Not that position on the compass.
The_Big_M Posted March 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Don't think I saw the horns, but I agree it's well done. Great to look at whatever was being shown there.
Clarea Posted March 30, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 30, 2016 I think the name has to do with the field of view being 270 degrees. Not that position on the compass. That's my understanding also.

greykangaroo Posted March 31, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted March 31, 2016 Yep, thanks guys. I guess you are all correct on that. It sure looks like a wrap around on the floor plan. Sitting in the theatre it doesn't give that impression. It just looks like the stern windows. I am wondering if they have the same holographic unit on the Ovation? The captain said in a question and answer session one day that the whole thing cost 36 million dollars.
