Clarea Posted August 4, 2016 #76 Share Posted August 4, 2016 ... I was told by BoA that I could just cash in for real US dollars. Is this true? I've not heard of anyone doing that.
gagirl7143 Posted August 4, 2016 #77 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Yes, you can cash in the onboard credit on the ship for US dollars and is fully refundable, they are not supposed to charge you a 6% fee either.
Tralynn222 Posted August 4, 2016 #78 Share Posted August 4, 2016 And for anyone that has redeemed points to lower your balance. When did they apply that amount?? I redeemed 100,000 points a couple weeks ago. Ask for them to reduce my balance due by $1000. Called and confirmed that it was done and my invoice shows it on there. However, Royal is telling me (and my TA) That they won't actually apply the $1000 till the final payment date. I need to pay the difference and then rely on Royal to take that money off and show a zero balance. Sorry, but I don't trust Royal!!!. When has anyone else had the money applied to their balance??? My final payment date is 8/28. Going to pay the rest of the balance this week. And then plan to keep checking the next couple weeks to see if point money was applied. Just last month I cashed in points to reduce my balance. It was applied within three days and this was about a month before final payment was due. Hope this helps. Snit13 Posted August 4, 2016 #79 Share Posted August 4, 2016 I just got off phone with Celebrity and RCCL Rewards Redemtion specialists. The RCCL rep suggested I not redeem points until 7 to 14 days before cruise as if for some reason we needed to cancel, the points would be lost and gone foerver as they are not refundable or transferable. She said this is a BofA policy and not a RCCL policy. So, I guess I will wait until December to redeem points for OBC and then use that for the gratuities and lunch drinks and water. We will have the Diamond drinks in the evening as has been posted on CC many times. The rep also said points must be redeemed in $5,000 increments thus 5,000 points would equal $50 OBC. She told me to use the form on website and check double occupancy and they would divide the OBC equally or check single and I would get all of the credit and DH would be on his own credit account. Should I share?

Should I share? If you and your husband share the same credit card for onboard chanrges, then it won't matter what you select, because either way all changes and OBC will be pooled into one account. I redeemed my points a couple weeks ago. Final payment is Aug. 29th. Agent said the points are still pending. But they "should" get applied before final payment date!!! Will give it another week and call again. Just crazy. No rhyme or reason how they do things.

Wilson Posted August 7, 2016 #85 Share Posted August 7, 2016 Over a month ago I redeemed 50k points to get $500 credit towards the balance on our upcoming cruise. Final payment with TA was July 28th and still no credit. Called redemption center yesterday and they told me it should have been applied 2 weeks ago. They tell me that if the credit is not applied by Aug 28th they will refund my credit card $500. I do NOT want this since I have a zero balance on the credit card. We stopped using it for one that has much better rewards.

Assume you mean that you had to pay the full amount since the credit was not there?? That is exactly what my TA is wanting me to do also. Our final payment date is not till 8/29 (but thats a monday) So they want all money by 8/26. So far my credit has not shown up. Will call again later today. We to are so done with this card. Just trying to get all these points used so I can cut it up!!!!!

Really don't want to have to pay for and than wait for a credit. Enjoy cutting up the card. Hope to be doing that in the near future.
Cruisin' Again 86 Posted August 12, 2016 #92 Share Posted August 12, 2016 I see it on Royal's Guest Copy of the booking confirmation. I ask for a copy of that around two weeks before the cruise, because the Visa points OBC are processed in order of cruise date, so if is too far in advance, it will not have been posted. You also should have received an email stating amount redeemed and ship/sail date the same day you redeem.
Cruisebaza Posted August 12, 2016 #93 Share Posted August 12, 2016 After using the RCCL card for many years, I realized that points were actually expiring. No notification that I had seen. Also the redemption value is not large and is a pain to use. So I've moved on to something else. Too bad, though, because they could make it much better but for now it's just a pain to use. Lady Hudson Posted August 12, 2016 #94 Share Posted August 12, 2016 A few weeks ago I redeemed enough points for $200 for OBC. I put in for double occupancy since my husband was going on this trip. Now it looks as he may not go because of an illness (nothing serious but he probably should not be on a ship). Will this cause a problem for me with the points if I go solo? Is there possibly a number at B of A I should call? Maybe change to single occupancy regardless if DH goes on the trip or not? Thanks.

If you go solo, there will be no problem, all the OBC will go to you. If you replace your husband with someone else, then that other guest may get half the OBC. You can try to fix this in advance with the redemption people (888-305-4626), or worst case this can be fixed at Guest Services on board.
Lady Hudson Posted August 12, 2016 #96 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks, Bob. I will just wait then to see my husband's status. Right now I don't think he even wants to go. And as long as the points won't be lost I am happy. Katherine
waterbugohio Posted August 16, 2016 #97 Share Posted August 16, 2016 Well, finally good news. As of last night, the request to turn 100,000 points into a $1000 credit on my balance due was finally applied. I redeemed the points on July 13. My final payment is Aug. 29th. I now have a zero balance :) :)
waterbugohio Posted August 29, 2016 #98 Share Posted August 29, 2016 So can someone explain the difference is doing OBC as a single occupancy or a double occupancy?? I have enough points for $300 OBC. Is it going to matter if things are changed to my card or my husbands? thanks in advance. PS. I think I have mentioned in this thread numerous times, I will be so glad to be done with this card!!!!

Double occupancy means the OBC is split between two guests in the stateroom. Single occupancy means all the OBC goes to one person. If both guests in the stateroom are charging to the same folio, then it makes no difference. Also, sometimes they get this wrong, so just to go Guest Services if this is the case and they can re-allocate the OBC any way you want.
jules815 Posted August 29, 2016 #100 Share Posted August 29, 2016 If you have your email receipt from the redemption, you should be fine. This is what I have, printed and tucked away in my cruise folder. I just redeemed points for OBC the other day. Finally some OBC for our upcoming HOTS cruise!
