Formal night on Allure

There are two formal nights on Allure's 7-day cruises. Here is what the cruise line suggests:

Nowadays, you don't have to "go formal"...but if you want to, you will NOT be "out of place"! You don't need ballgowns and tiaras! But, a nice, slinky evening gown is great! A sports coat or jacket is fine.

Many gentlemen won't even be wearing a jacket. Shirt and tie only.

I didn't even wear a tie last cruise. Just a nice collared shirt and slacks. The thought of hauling a suit on a cruise does not excite me.

Jacket and no jacket will do.

Nights 2 and 6 on western.

 

Nights 2 and 5 on eastern.

First formal night, we go all out gown and tux. Second not as formal. Grown sons wear suit and ties for both.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have seen videos from other Royal ships showing the wait staff signing on formal night - do they do that on Allure? We have Chops reservations that night - will we miss anything special in the MDR?

Yes and yes. I just do a white shirt and dark tie and black dress shoes.

The second formal night is when they have the lobster tail in the MDR
