Missing child??? Just off Freedom of Seas

Recommended Posts

^ It's actually no one's business why they were paging a guest - I would expect discretion and very few facts, wouldn't you?

When they are paging into cabins at 3,4,5am, they make it everyone's business.

I am glad the child was found safely.

I only remember one other time that they paged into the staterooms at 3 and 4 am, and it was also a missing person.

I was also on the cruise from 3-27 to 4-3 and it was rather odd to have sleep interrupted three times at that hour of the morning looking for, I thought, a female "Cooper." And I thought that the Captain said in his morning announcement that the person had been located.

From my review:

........the Captain made an announcement about it. Apparently some kid ran away from parents and was hiding out in a friend’s cabin. Captain was NOT happy; he gave us all a mini-lecture on how it is our job to control our kids, not the crew’s. I agree with him and hope that kid got in a lot of trouble.

Wow, good for him. I wish every Captain would make that announcement at the beginning of every day. :D

We were once on a cruise where a family of 3 were travelling. Parents and a 19 year old daughter. Nice family. The daughter became friendly with a guy in his late 20s. One night the entire ship was awakened by the Captain as the girl was missing. The parents were frantic as they had gone to the guys cabin and he swore she was not in there. At this point they began to search the entire ship and once again put out a message in the cabins. Guess what, she was in there all the time. You can imagine the reception this guy got next day.

Similar situation in our case, except it was a distraught husband who thought his wife had fallen off the ship. She was elsewhere, didn't answer the multiple PA announcements to all staterooms, and was put off the ship the next day.

The woman, the husband or both? That would be in interesting sight to at pier side as they were be escorted off. I highly doubt that they were happily married previous to the sailing.;)

The woman was put off the ship for not responding to the security call. I don't recall if the husband followed her.

He should have as well, even if the Captain didn't demand it , only to get home before she did to change the locks and see a lawyer.

Not everyone is happy when on vacation. [emoji15]

I think it was my last Jewel cruise, this same thing happened. The intercom went off at around 2 or 3am. I heard the next morning the man was found in another womans stateroom.

On our TA back in 2012 someone went missing and they were handing out pictures of the missing gentlemen. He was also later found and I heard it was with another woman

In my TA in 2011, a husband and wife were on the cruise, however without her knowing, he also paid for his mistress to go on the cruise and put her up in a different stateroom. The wife found out and put a beating on him and both were escorted off the ship once we reached the Bahamas.

There seems to be a theme to these events!

WOW is right, there have been some crazy dramas on board. I've yet to experience such a wake-up call in the middle of the night, but I guess if I continue cruising, the odds will catch up to me as it seems bound to happen eventually given the number of passengers aboard.

The most "excitement" I've experienced was a false "bravo" call (faulty sensor) and a couple of "alphas" with no fatalities as far as I know (once, an ambulance had to pick up the passenger the next morning in port, though).

We had that happen too. Lifeboats deployed and all public areas emptied of guests and crew so that everyone could be accounted for. She eventually made herself known to guest services but was removed from the ship the next day. It was either Vision or Explorer can't remember exactly.

Doesn't have to be a child. My good friend met a guy on a cruise in college and fell asleep in his room. Her parents freaked out looking for her and they did a search of the ship to find her. Called in to the cabins- where the boy heard it and woke her up. Talk about embarassing!

It doesn't have to be a child. It could be anyone that someone had said was missing. It wouldn't be the first time that an adult was "missing" from their cabin. They're usually in a new "friends' cabin lol. If it was a child, they would do more than announce. They'd probably do a physical search of cabins. My guess is it was probably not a child.
