Bermuda Cruise Questions

Thinking about booking a cruise in June to Bermuda on the Breakaway. It's docked for 3 days in Royal Navy Dockyard. We'd love to see Bermuda but also love the experiences of cruising. Does the ship operate everything while there just as they would if we were out to sea such as the casino's, bars, shows, etc.?? Are you free to come and go at whatever times or do they want everyone back onboard by a certain time each night??

Yes, you can come and go as you please! The casino will be closed during the day, but will re-open at 9:00pm til the wee hours. Shows will be available in the evenings, also. Lots of people do day-time sightseeing, but choose to stay onboard in the evenings.

 

We are on Breakaway in May and have pre-booked our dining and shows. Of course, you can wait until you board to do this, but we prefer to have all our ducks in a row before sailing.

I just imagine the ship being as other cruises when we are in port where the ship is practically shut down until we get out to sea with little to no scheduled activities, stores all closed, dining options limited, etc.

The on board shops will be closed while you're docked in Bermuda.

There is very little at the dock. But it is easy and cheap to catch the ferry across to Hamilton.

Actually, there are several things at the dock; restaurants, shops, beach, bars, etc. Taxi's, buses, water taxis, scooter rentals.

There are actually MANY things at the dockyard, shopping, dining even free wifi if you get a drink at the bars. Great time there and never went out of the dockyard except for a 4 hr cab tour which was also wonderful!

What about things like the ropes course, rock climbing wall, arcade, etc.? I'm really trying to figure if there's enough going on the ship if we were to either want to come back early, get rained out, or if one or more of our group just wants to stay on-board 1 of the 3 days....

There will be activities onboard even while docked in Bermuda. Not as extensive as sea days, but enough to keep you busy. The stores will be closed, but the bars, pools, restaurants will all be operating. On Wednesday evening there is an event in downtown Hamilton "Harbour Nights" with lots of music and festivities. We plan on taking the ferry there and catch the bus to return to the Dockyard in the evening. Last bus is at 10:00 pm.

This would be something everyone in your party would enjoy.....just google it and take a look.

Sorry to disagree with you, but as stated above there is plenty to do dockside. One of our favorite things is dockside - the glass blowing factory. We usually always come home with a piece, and it is amazing to watch them make the products(free viewings), there is also the fort, dolphins, many shops, pottery shop, rum cake factory....many good things.

We do enjoy Hamilton also, especially on Wed night for Harbor Nights, and St Georges too.

After three trips to Bermuda we finally explored the fort last fall.

The views are just great, as are the grounds.

There is also a dolphin show, and interaction that you can watch. It is really very nice. :)

Great information!! Thank you all who responded to the OP. We have a group considering a Bermuda cruise for 2018 and these are exactly the things I was curious about as well!!

 

Now may have to change month of cruise so we check out the Harbor Nights!! Looks like fun!

If you are planning your Bermuda cruise on another cruise line, other than NCL, you may want to make sure about the casino being open. I recently read that Royal Caribbean does not operate the casino while in Bermuda.

Update:

 

Just read the Cruise Compass for the April 30, 2016 5-night Bermuda cruise on Anthem and it shows the casino open starting at 5:30pm on first day in Bermuda and 5:00pm on 2nd day.
