Anyone Else See How FAST CCL Magic is Going?!

I was just on MarineTraffic.com & saw the Magic clocked @ 24.2 Knots!

It's currently repositioning from Galveston to Port Canaveral. I had no idea it could hit speeds that high... Carnival should rev it up more often and give us more time in ports, just saying :)

She's probably getting a 5-6 knot boost from the Gulf Stream, and she was needing about 20 knots to make up for the late departure.

It's designed max speed is probably around 26 Knots. That is flying , they might be making up time or out running a storm.

No, thank you. I've come to appreciate a leisurely cruise pace and sea days!

Indeed, Chief, she must also be lighter without pax, baggage and a low tonnage of food provisions, which will probably be loaded in PC.

Max speed is 25 knots, and one would not want to pay the cruise fares if you cruised at that speed all the time. Otherwise she is a 22.5 knot ship.

Fuel consumption is not linear in nature, thus 10% more speed does not equate to 10% more fuel consumption, it might be more like 30% or even more.

What say you chief? Am I sorta correct? You know I always equate this stuff to aviation!
