clairebearinaus Posted April 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2016 Correction - the pizzeria on the Sun Princess was called Verdi's. Obviously this engine problem isn't going away anytime soon! I was firstly disappointed to hear that my recent cruise on the Sun was to be its last before a refurbishment, but that turned out to be a good thing :)
NSWP Posted April 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) The Sun Class ships operating out of Australia, Sun/Sea/Dawn are old ships now, built around 1995 so they have frequent engine issues etc. Why do you think they sent them over to OZ? Not good enough any longer for the American markets, that is why. OZ gets the older ships for its Princess/P&O/Carnival fleets. It was a 10 day SF/Alaska round trip. We absolutely LOVED that ship. The pizza on that ship was served up at Cafe Corniche. It was OMG good pizza. Sea Princess was/is a wonderful ship. We had an inside cabin. For those who think inside cabins on Grand class ships are small... The inside cabins on the Sun class ships vary from 135 sq ft to 149 sq ft. (Ours was 135 sq ft.) Inside cabins on Grand class ships are 162 sq ft. Compared to our cabin on Sea Princess that is palatial! We pretty much had to go out of the cabin to change our minds! Nonetheless, we had a freaking FANTASTIC cruise. We loved that ship. :D

Still popular here though and they sail full every time. They work NZ/Pacific Islands and take turns in doing an annual world cruise of 104 days.
