What exactly is the "extras"?

Recommended Posts

First time Royal Carribbean cruiser. Have always cruised Disney. I'm seeing a lot of add-ones on the website but can't seem to find any information. I see drinks, dinning, even entertainment. What exactly are the "extras" and how much can that add up for family of 4?

Alcoholic drinks, soda/pop, specialty restaurants, shore excursions, photos, bingo, casino, shops; pretty much the same for all cruise lines. I believe soda is included on Disney and not on RC.

Really depends what you and your family want to do, and what you normally spend extra on.

There are packages for alcohol and soft drinks should you desire not to purchase individually. Off hand, can't think of any shows/entertainment that would be an extra.

Not that different from Disney.

You will pay for your drinks. You can purchase by the drink or buy a package. You will see the packages on the website.

Here is a link:

There are specialty restaurants, just as there are on Disney ships.

On some ships, you make entertainment reservations, but very very very few things have a charge.

You can create a My Cruises page on RC's website, and then you will have a link "Cruise Planner" and see options there.

I see that you will be on the Harmony.

On the Harmony, it is strongly advised that you book your shows ahead of time, particularly the Comedy Show. There are standby lines, and most if not all people get in...........except for the Comedy Show. (however, I understand that Harmony's Comedy Club is going to be larger than the ones on Oasis & Allure, so perhaps it will be easier to get in there)

If you want PRIVATE flowrider lessons, there is a charge. That's pretty much it for activities that cost money. Everything else is included: carousel, flowrider, zip line...............

Many many many free eating venues. For fee restaurants include 150 Central Park, Chops, (Starbucks), Johnny Rockets (breakfast is free), Sabor, Vintages, Jamie's Italian. Everything else is included in your cruise fare.

As mentioned above, soda is NOT included for anyone. Again, you can purchase by the can or buy a package, which includes a souvenir cup that works in the Freestyle Coke machines, with hundreds of combinations.

Like Disney, spa and excursions always cost extra. Prices are probably comparable.

Paul! You are so bad. :p

You don't have to spend ONE penny, if you don't want to. There are plenty of non alcoholic drinks, entertainment and eateries that come with your cruise fare. :):):)

^ This, exactly. We have come home with a balance of $0.00 on our credit card. You do not have to spend anything extra if you don't want to.

I agree entirely! We are very content with the included items, and very rarely spend money on extra-cost items.

Fresh squeezed OJ is also extra. It's in a fancy machine w/ oranges. You can get regular OJ in the regular dispensers at breakfast. I tried the fresh squeezed, and couldn't tell the difference.

Good point.....and who the HECK has "fresh squeezed OJ" at home???? so......why in the world would on pay $$$$$ for it?

Just curious, does anyone know how much the photo sessions are onboard Allure?

When we were on the Oasis a couple summers ago we spent aprox $475ish but we got the CD and EVERY printed photo we could find of us. It was so much fun we had our daughters with us and they had a blast going around the ship every evening and finding the different places to get photo shoots. My husband and I did it too. Any time someone said can I take your photo we said yes. The dock at every port and even when we did the Zip line on shore. It was worth it to me although it was quite a penny LOL but we had a blast.
